corrected misleading sentence (see comments from LSpice)

| May 19, 2024 at 22:21 | comment | added | LSpice | Re, you are right, there is no "second 'it'"; sorry. But, in "… improvements on the upper bound e.g. Bartholdi brought it down to 0.7675… and Leonov up to 0.504…", parallelism suggests reading "Leonov [brought it, the upper bound] up to 0.504…", which of course isn't what you mean. I was suggesting that you might have meant to say "… improvements, e.g., Bartholdi brought the upper bound down to 0.7675… and Leonov brought the lower bound up to 0.504…". | |
| May 19, 2024 at 21:27 | comment | added | ARG | @LSpice I am unsure which "second it" you mean. Bartholdi showed that $b_n \leq exp(C n^{0.7675\ldots})$ for some $C$ and Leonov showed that $b_n \geq exp(C n^{0.504\ldots})$ for some (other) $C$. So Bartholdi was the upper bound and Leonov the lower bound (there were many other results leading to these). | |
