They are meant to guarantee that SE sites can be a safe place to visit with respect to all of each users, not just a small subset. Striking a good balance is maybe the struggle here. | |
| May 4, 2018 at 12:35 | comment | added | rene Mod | As an Room Owner of an pretty active chatroom on Stack Overflow let me say that carefully, diligently and cheerily are used, tried and tested and I prefer those (and the room I moderate does reasonably well) before using stronger messages. However, RO-teams and site-moderators can only do so much to tame a crowd. Someday a line has to be drawn, and this one is drawn crystal clear. It is unfortunate but that message needs strong words, making users involved a bit uncomfortable. I agree that this shouldn't be needed but I personally don't see another option given past incidents in various rooms. | |
