  • Great idea, but probably is best covered by insaves:mine and "specific text string"; there's no way they can add support for infinitely customizable list names chosen by users.

  • @TylerH How about adding a search field on the "Saves" page that searches in whatever list is currently open (or all saves if no list is selected)? And then in:saves would just work as a shortcut.

@TylerH "there's no way they can add support for infinitely customizable list names chosen by users" pretty sure it's possible. YouTube doesn't stop me from making as many lists of videos as I want. On the technical side, I'm sure it's essentially a list you can give a name to. Custom filters kind of do that already - it's a collection of tags to search and you can name it. You can make many of them, too.

I also would like to see inlist:listname or inlist:all and just dump "saves" entirely.

Thanks for the feedback. Once we are able to understand the usage of this new feature post-launch we will revisit the requests from Meta for future iterations.

  • @VLAZ It's not about how many lists you make, it's about the system creating keywords to use for searching them. If I make a list called "purpleSucks" should I be able to search in:saves list:purpleSucks? Not likely.

@TylerH It should be something like in:saves.purpleSucks. It should select saves and then subselect purpleSucks and start the search. Why do you say not likely?

  • @TheMaster I am aware of several sensible ways it work from a front-end perspective. That's not my concern. My concern is with storing a potentially infinite number of custom searches in their database. Based on how they store the custom filters it could be not a scalable thing. If they have the table architected such that they only need one new column and can save each custom filter as a row, then sure that might work fine. But if they store filter options as columns... yeah no.
