To anyone at the company who is listening: As an exercise, can you come up with any externally visible actions (not words) of senior leadership since the acquisition, that are not consistent with this artistic interpretation? That is what breaks trust and encorages these narratives. Commented Oct 17, 2023 at 20:54

@user1937198 as I said, I don't have any pretense to be able to tell apart what the truth actually is behind all the mess that happened in these years. Yet I think it would still be useful for the company to reflect about WHY so many users now see them as one of those mustached villain from some old western movie, wearing their top hat as they tie the network to the train tracks. Here's what Joel had to say about Prosus in the first place—all of which is consistent with your Evil, Inc. scenario: Prosus is a long-term investor and loves what our company and community have built over these last 13+ years. They are impressed by the SaaS transformation the company has been on since the launch of Stack Overflow for Teams and especially over the last two years. Prosus recognizes our platform’s tremendous potential for impact and they are excited to launch and accelerate our next phase of growth. Commented Oct 18, 2023 at 17:55
