| Mar 19, 2025 at 1:15 | comment | added | RobH | Maybe a separate link to where the 'Discuss this answer' menu option would take you would be better than having it in the menu. Then you can ditch the menu for all >50 rep users, and everyone can still do the discussion if they want. (Not everyone with >50 rep is aware of the Discussions feature or (if they are) how to get to it.) | |

| Mar 13, 2025 at 13:29 | comment | added | Starship | Comment from newish user who was misdirected by this feature "I kinda suspected that, I actually thought "follow-up question" would actually create a, y'know, follow-up question! My bad 😅" (source). This is clearly confusing new users as well as many experienced users. | |
| Mar 10, 2025 at 22:18 | comment | added | Axeman | "As before, we will also have a follow-up post for this phase of the experiment" Did I miss this? AFAIK there has been zero acknowledgement of the feedback on the two phases of the experiment. | |
| Mar 7, 2025 at 20:23 | comment | added | dougp | Hiding comments in a "discussion" adds no value to the content of the question and answers. It's simply on (more) confusing step to getting clarification about the question -- clarification that some readers (based on my understanding of earlier comments) won't apparently be able to see. | |

| Mar 6, 2025 at 16:05 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | Well, on answers to my own question, the pop-up does actually have better messaging now (Request Clarification, Start a Discussion), and I comment with one click on my question. Progress!(?) | |

| Mar 5, 2025 at 10:39 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | Considering the (significant detrimental) impact this test is having on multiple areas of the site, is there a reason this post isn't [featured], so that other users know where to provide feedback? | |
| Mar 4, 2025 at 9:20 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | A 12k+ user posted a comment as a discussion today... 🤦 Not their fault, Stack Overflow is (intentionally) misleading them. | |

| Mar 4, 2025 at 0:30 | comment | added | David Robie | I have run into the same problem that others have. My comment was turned into a new post, which was pruned. I didn't have a clarification, I had a question to ask. So, I naturally avoided the clarification option. This change is not helpful to the users. | |
| Mar 3, 2025 at 16:55 | comment | added | Starship | @ThomA Maybe I should do that too...it would be nice to know when my flags are declined...or just bookmark | |
| Mar 3, 2025 at 16:54 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | The fact that flag history in Discussions still isn't available is frustrating; I'm tempted to leave a comment on every post I've flagged, @Starship , so that I can at least see the history in my profile (after I wait 27+ seconds for it to load, of course...) | |
| Mar 3, 2025 at 14:56 | comment | added | Starship | As one of the main users flagging NSFD in discussions...this experiment is making discussions even more unmoderatable than it used to be...you are actively making it impossible to clean up discussions, see meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/433181/… | |
| Mar 3, 2025 at 13:15 | comment | added | chivracq | Ah...!, alright, Thanks for the clarification @ThomA So, nothing has changed for them (yet), so "we" (Users with >50-Rep) are just the "guinea-pigs" for this/there Experiment(s), while we are definitely not the target group for whom this "functionality" could prove any useful... | |
| Mar 3, 2025 at 13:01 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | "What do [1-49]-Rep Users see now...? " Users with < 50 reputation still get the "You must have 50 reputation to comment" pop-up, @chivracq . | |

| Mar 3, 2025 at 10:08 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | The fact that so many people are using the Follow-Up Question feature to post comments, and Questions, and the author of the answer is apparently not notified (no comment on the answer) is awful UX for all involved right now; it's bad for the author of the off-guidelines discussion as the person they want to see it won't, and the post will likely go unanswered and be deleted (for not being a discussion), and it's bad UX for the Discussion users as we're flagging so much content that isn't a suitable Discussion, and it's drowning what (very) little good discussions there are. | |

| Feb 28, 2025 at 4:58 | comment | added | chivracq | [Cont...] That will make everybody happy... All Users who've been around on the Platform for a while find this 'new Comment TM_2025' super frustrating/contra-productive, especially all Answerers and Curators... (Ref Score on the 'Feedback Thread for Phase 1', and this one already at '-17' in just a few hours), while that new Functionality with 2 or 3 options will only be useful for [1-49]-Rep new Users... And if they find it annoying after a while, => GOOD, that will motivate them to ask GOOD Questions, or answer a few, so that they manage to pass the 50-Rep Threshold... Everybody wins...! | |
| Feb 28, 2025 at 4:44 | comment | added | chivracq | One (more) "stupid Question" (sorry, I'm a specialist, oops...!): What do [1-49]-Rep Users see now...? Do they still get the "old" just 'Comment' Link (which doesn't do anything, if I remember a bit correctly, or they get some Error telling them about the 50-Rep Privilege), ... or do they now get the Phase 1 Popup with the 2 options from Phase 1, => 'Comment' + 'Say thanks'...? // But if you are "so good" at presenting Functionality according to Rep, can't you invert the "process", and give Users with >=50-Rep just the Comment Link, and the [3 (or 2)]-option Popup only to [1-49] new Users...? | |

| Feb 27, 2025 at 22:31 | comment | added | chivracq | @ThomA Hum, yammy-yammy Spam, so cute...! And if we were wondering, just with 1-Rep then... | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 22:08 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | I retract my statement, @chivracq , the spammers have found the feature. | |

| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:36 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | And the flood gates for non-discussion discussions have opened... Great. I'm just going to stop visiting that area, again again again... | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:19 | comment | added | user4581301 | If you want to study something, study the effect of sending new users to a cesspool. Fix discussions before directing people there, please. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:17 | comment | added | chivracq | @ThomA OK, yep, you're right, "won't yet" indeed... But pfff..., that will happen, I think... Ah-hum, they (Staff/Dev) were testing some Spam-filter that was preventing putting any Link, but I think that was only for Replies, and that Links were still allowed in the starting Post of a Discussion... | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:16 | comment | added | Axeman | I wanted to follow up on a users lack of reproducible example and got yeeted to discussions for some reason. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:13 | comment | added | Axeman | Ok I will downvote instead of engaging with question askers then. I'll take the absolute lack of response to the feedback on the previous experiment that it is indeed intended to make us all not use comments and drive-by downvote everybody instead. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:12 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | Those spammers won't yet , @chivracq ; it's still limited to 50+ rep at the moment. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 19:08 | comment | added | chivracq | @ThomA Oh yep, you're right, I had checked 2h ago, and I still had only the 2 options, now I've got the 3 options, for Comments both on Questions + Answers... // And I think Spammers will love it, because just from 1 URL, you can create a new Discussion... Lovely...! | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 18:55 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | I did not realise this post was a "this is going live now" post, rather than a "this is happening soon" post. | |

| Feb 27, 2025 at 17:30 | comment | added | user400654 | iunno about that. I haven't seen a bunch of spam posts in the last few days... but there was a lot of spam over this past weekend and last week. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:47 | comment | added | NoDataDumpNoContribution | @ThomA Maybe it's fixed somehow. At least one good news. | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:44 | comment | added | Thom A Mod | Surprisingly, I've not seen as much spam as we were seeing a couple of weeks ago, @NoDataDumpNoContribution ; most of the content I've flagged recently has been code dump "Discussions". | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:41 | comment | added | NoDataDumpNoContribution | But what if nobody is there at discussions to discuss the concern? Also follow up question and sending to discussion doesn't sound consistent (a question should be on the main site). And weren't there spam waves on discussion that need to be fixed before actively sending people there? So many open questions, no feedback on them. Is there a success metric for this part of the experiment? | |

| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:39 | comment | added | chivracq | Pity you keep sailing like an unstoppable icebreaker towards the North-pole without addressing much of the feedback from Phase 1... // Then, again, why is it called "conversation" in the Link, (in "Join the conversation"), and not "discussion"...? | |

| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:26 | comment | added | user400654 | @AbdullaNilam presumably it'll use the question inlining feature of discussions | |
| Feb 27, 2025 at 16:21 | comment | added | Abdulla Nilam | Just curious. What will happen when user click follow up. Will it copy same Question in to discussion? | |
