If you currently live in Lagos, you're probably feeling three things at once: heat that doesn't cool after dark, heavy still air, and a sense that "weather" alone doesn't explain why the city feels this punishing. That's the question we've been sitting with at Susbridge: what exactly is making Lagos feel this hot today, and what could leaders do tomorrow morning differently? Urban Climate Signals is our attempt to answer that in a way that decision-makers can actually use. It's a live, city-level dashboard that shows how heat and pollution build up through concrete, traffic, and generators, and how shifts in tree cover, diesel reliance, or urban density change the heat index and air quality in real time. Under the hood, it's built on atmospheric models, city-level coordinates, and a mobile-first interface. On the surface, it's a decision tool for governments, planners, NGOs, and residents who want evidence instead of guesswork. If you work on urban governance, climate, or public health in African cities, explore the tool and tell us: what does it help you see differently about your city? Lagos has always been warm. Lately, it has started to feel punishing. We built Urban Climate Signals to answer a narrow, urgent question: What exactly is making a city feel this hot today, and what can we do tomorrow morning differently? It's a live climate intelligence dashboard for cities, showing real-time heat index and air quality alongside an interactive policy simulator where leaders can test what happens when they add green infrastructure, reduce diesel generators, or shift urban density. The experience moves from "how it feels right now" to "what levers you can pull" to "how today's conditions connect to long-term resilience goals." This climate model is designed to turn scattered weather data, satellite feeds, and technical reports into decision-ready intelligence for people navigating growth and heat stress simultaneously. Explore the full case study, dashboard, and policy simulator: https://lnkd.in/eePYDicK #UrbanHeat #ClimateIntelligence #CityResilience #HeatAdaptation #UrbanCities #Susbridge

Greenwashing sounds good until someone asks for proof. Adetoro Adetayo writes that sustainability storytelling has turned into marketing noise, and people are no longer buying it. Trust drops fast when claims feel empty. This matters because customers now check, question, and walk away. One survey shows 60% of executives admit their companies have engaged in greenwashing. Real impact needs data, honest updates, and visible action. Take a closer look at what separates credible brands from the rest. At Susbridge, we recently published a lifecycle assessment comparing sachet water and PET bottles in Lagos, tracking climate impact, water use, and energy demand per liter consumed under current local conditions. The finding that surprised some people: sachet has roughly half the climate footprint of PET, even accounting for low recycling and open burning. But that's not the point. The point is that policy debates often skip the measurement step and jump straight to bans or mandates without asking what the full environmental bill actually looks like. Most African cities face similar trade-offs: visible waste problems sitting alongside invisible resource and energy costs. This study is one example of how we can start asking better questions: What are we actually optimizing for? Who benefits from which intervention? What changes when you improve collection systems versus switching packaging formats? The full case study includes an interactive tool where you can test different scenarios yourself: recycling rates, packaging weight, and waste management approaches. If you work on waste policy, packaging standards, or urban sustainability in African contexts, this might be useful. • Most people assume bottled water is "better" than sachets. The data tells a more complicated story. We conducted a full lifecycle assessment of sachet water vs PET bottles in Lagos, comparing climate impact, water use, and energy demand per liter consumed. Key finding: Under current Lagos conditions, sachet water has roughly half the climate footprint of PET, even when you account for open burning and low recycling rates. But that doesn't mean sachets are "good." It means the conversation needs to shift from bans to systems: better collection, lighter packaging, and cleaner end-of-life options for both. The full case study includes an interactive scenario studio where you can test what happens when recycling rates change, packaging gets lighter, or waste management improves. When classrooms go dark from power cuts, learning doesn’t have to stop. Real progress in African education happens when online tools work hand in hand with offline teaching. From solar-powered e-learning centers in Sudan to SMS-based learning in Kenya, schools are finding creative ways to teach without relying solely on technology. With over 600 million Africans still lacking electricity and only 36% having broadband access, balance becomes essential. This #CareerCompass tip explores practical, human-centered ways to blend both worlds. Read the full piece to see what true digital inclusion looks like in action. https://lnkd.in/dd9fkjTJ 🎨: Tomi Abe #BlendedLearning #EdTechAfrica #OfflineEducation #DigitalInclusion #SolarLearning #Susinsight
