Sheraton Schiphol hotel logo catches fire, forcing evacuation

A fire broke out in the logo of the Sheraton hotel at Schiphol during the early hours of Friday morning. Firefighters responded in large numbers and evacuated hundreds of guests.

The fire started in the hotel’s logo, causing parts of the logo to fall down, a spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Kennemerland told NH Nieuws. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the security region suspects a short circuit.

The 380 guests in the hotel were evacuated as a precaution. A neighboring hotel took them in while the fire brigade extinguished the blaze.

No one got hurt, and the guests returned to their rooms when the fire was out, the spokesperson said
