What is PAPREN?
Our vision: Active people in active communities, supported by equitable, sustainable policies and practices.
PAPREN is a CDC-funded Network that brings diverse partners together to create environments that maximize physical activity. The Network advances the evidence base and puts research into practice through collaboration across sectors with a shared vision of achieving active communities. PAPREN is the research partner of the CDC's Active People, Healthy NationSM initiative.
PAPREN structure consists of a Coordinating Center, CDC advisors, Steering Committee, and two Hubs, the Rural Hub and the Urban Hub.
All PAPREN members have the option to join either or both of our two Hubs, which focus on priority topic areas related to the built environment and physical activity. The Hubs support project groups that develop products and tools and offer opportunity for researchers and practitioners to network and exchange information. Learn more here.

Why join PAPREN?
Achieving communities that support physical activity as part of daily life will require solutions that cross traditional boundaries. There is exciting work going on in many sectors. Many specialists in these sectors don’t interact regularly across sectors. Innovative research may not get translated into practice.
PAPREN creates spaces for the boundary-spanning collaboration needed to create communities where people can be active as part of daily life. It offers a unique forum to generate and share ideas that can bring research to practice and to evaluate implementation to identify best practices. PAPREN can help you widen and deepen your network.
All PAPREN members have the option to join any of our two Hubs, the Rural Hub and the Urban Hub, which focus on priority topic areas related to the built environment and physical activity. The Hubs develop products and tools and offer opportunity for researchers and practitioners to network and exchange information. Learn more here.
