3$\begingroup$ For those who aren't familiar with U.S. geography, it would be helpful to have the states colour-coded, or otherwise distinguishable. I count 50 different regions on the map above. I assume that in two cases, two of those regions are part of the same state, but I have no idea which ones. $\endgroup$GentlePurpleRain– GentlePurpleRain2026-02-27 17:35:56 +00:00Commented yesterday

$\begingroup$ (actually 51 regions, but I did manage to recognize the shape of Maryland, and inferred that it is actually one region, but looks like two due to the thickness of the border lines on the provided map) $\endgroup$GentlePurpleRain– GentlePurpleRain2026-02-27 17:37:49 +00:00Commented yesterday

1$\begingroup$ Are we to use plane circles on this particular projection (which projection?), or actual circles on the real geoid? $\endgroup$Toby Speight– Toby Speight2026-02-28 10:06:25 +00:00Commented 19 hours ago

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. logical-deduction), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
