I haven’t been in your inbox for a while, I know. I have been busy building stuff both at Twilio and personally. So in this post I will be sharing some accomplishments, some learnings and some resources that you might like!

The 2024

Learnings

We have 57.72% of the 2024 left and my focus for this year had been AI and Kubernetes! Well I am pretty much on track with those learning goals. I have not only been learning AI, specifically LangChain but also teaching others about it. So far, I have given three LangChain talks at conferences and meetups.

In regards to K8s, I am still no expert and don’t think will be any time soon, but have been building some projects. Check this out, we have a DevOps capstone project on Learn to Cloud that I am building.

Accomplishments

I am super proud to share that I am a Google Developer Expert in GCP and also an HashiCorp Ambassador for 2024.

As shared in my 2024 focus video, there have been few certifications that I wanted to sit! I tried one of the GitHub Certifications (yes, GitHub now has certifications) and was able to pass the GitHub Foundations in 1 Day. And I recently got recertified in HashiCorp Terraform Associate.

Resources

As some of you know, reading articles is how I keep myself updated! Since AI has been the fuzz since 2023 now, check out this amazing article by Miguel Grinberg: How LLMs Work, Explained Without Math.
Another great read on the power of developer journal on StackOverfow. As devs, we juggle a ton of info in our heads. A dev journal is like a personal assistant for your brain – it helps you:

7 Days Of Python Challenge

Hey there, I'd like to start by saying that I created this repository as a resource for those who are new to Python and want to learn it for Cloud Computing or DevOps career. However, I'd like to emphasise that using you cannot become a Python expert in 7 days, and this repository does not automatically turn you into a Python expert. It is only a starting point for you to gain a basic understanding of the language and some related concepts. Python is a vast and ever-changing language, and becoming an expert takes time and practise. I hope this disclaimer clears up any misunderstandings and assists you in approaching this resource with realistic expectations.

I did some writing

If you're like me, a developer who has used Terraform for your IaC needs in the past, Pulumi offers an alternative that allows you to write code in your preferred programming language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, .NET, and Java) to provision and manage cloud infrastructure. In this blog post, we will walk through the steps to deploy a static website to Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Pulumi, ps: this is my first time trying it out.
