1$\begingroup$ Of course, that is Russian side that already has 4 ports available for docking. Nakua will replace an existing, and the UM will only offer one docking port (need to be moved to side port to free it up once docked). I was thinking Russian side had plenty of space, but US side seems a bit sparse, considering all the traffic due. $\endgroup$geoffc– geoffc2013-10-03 16:49:56 +00:00Commented Oct 3, 2013 at 16:49

$\begingroup$ And actually, since the UM is docked to the nadir end of Nakua, it means no additional 'docking' ports, only additional connection ports. Which matters. $\endgroup$geoffc– geoffc2013-10-03 17:25:36 +00:00Commented Oct 3, 2013 at 17:25

$\begingroup$ As I looked at info on the Lyappa arm on Mir, for shuffling modules about in the question: space.stackexchange.com/questions/2266/… I wonder if the UM will have 'dockable' side ports for Soyuz/Progress/ATV or only the nadir node? $\endgroup$geoffc– geoffc2013-10-03 18:08:47 +00:00Commented Oct 3, 2013 at 18:08

$\begingroup$ There was a report in 2010. At least one of them is said to be hybrid. That means it is possible to change probe to drouge inflight. And it is said there will be the re-docking manipulator. interfax.ru/world/169881 $\endgroup$user54– user542014-11-26 15:50:41 +00:00Commented Nov 26, 2014 at 15:50

$\begingroup$ See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… for the description of the hybrid. $\endgroup$user54– user542014-11-26 15:51:38 +00:00Commented Nov 26, 2014 at 15:51

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. orbital-mechanics), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
