I do data recovery (mainly from NAND based drives) and file repair for a living. I have had this fascination for storage devices and data recovery for several decades, since I worked for PowerQuest (PartitionMagic). Since then I wrote 'disk repair' tools (DiskPatch being one) and file recovery software myself or was involved in file recovery development projects. In recent years, looking for a niche, I wrote some tools for digital photo repair and recovery, and this lead me to skill myself in data recovery from NAND based media (mainly memory cards and USB flash drives) and get the hard and software to do it.
