It’s nearly football time! American football that is.

Every year, thousands of innocent people are injured or killed by impaired drivers. In most cases, those drivers are charged with a crime and often face stiff penalties if convicted by a judge or jury.

The football world is not merely concerned. It is in open revolt. UEFA and all 55 of its member associations have unanimously rejected FIFA’s proposal to sell private investors a stake in FIFA Forward Enterprise, a new commercial subsidiary responsible for operating and monetizing the World Cup and FIFA’s other competitions. Their resistance raises a serious business question: is FIFA about to place an extraordinarily low value on the commercial future of the world’s largest sporting event?
