yesterday comment added Chester Gillon Perhaps using the Sysinterals Process Monitor could identify the registry setting / configuration file which Outlook uses to determine the application to view the HTML source. Albeit ProcMon can produce a large volume of logging.

yesterday comment added spikey_richie If you go to Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Outlook (or Outlook classic)) > does Notepad feature in that list for any of the types or links? I had a similar issue where if I clicked 'Mailto:` on an e-mail inside Classic Outlook, it loaded up the new style Outlook instead. I had to come into here to change the link for MAILTO back to Outlook (classic).
yesterday comment added Chester Gillon What is used as the default application to open .html files? On searching have seen some suggestions that Outlook 2024 uses the Windows default application to view the HTML source of applications. This is a comment, and not an answer, since don't have Outlook 2024 to verify that changing the Windows default file association for .html will allow you to use Notepad++.
yesterday comment added Peter VARGA @NickSlash No, it wasn't set. It was clicked the first time but the "wrong" notepad has been selected. We would like to change it to Notepad++
yesterday comment added NickSlash Have you previously changed it to Notepad++ and you want to change it back or the Windows default it notepad and you want to change to Notepad++?
