Nashville SC blows 2-goal lead, ties D.C. United 2-2

Nashville SC's franchise-best MLS winning streak of five games ended July 25 on the road with a 1-0 loss against Orlando City SC, but couldn't manage to get back in the win column Aug. 1 after a 2-2 tie against D.C. United.

Nashville SC (12-4-2) remains atop the Supporters' Shield standings with 40 points. Inter Miami entered the day with 38 points (11-2-5). SC was again without injured Cristian Espinoza.

Sam Surridge and Shak Mohammad scored to put Nashville up 2-0 in the first half.

But goals from Silvan Hefti and Tai Baribo pulled United even.

United, which is 5-8-5 (23 points) was coming off a 2-1 victory against Toronto.

D.C. United ties Nashville SC 2-2

Tai Baribo's goal at 77 minutes tied the score 2-2. It was Baribo's 11th goal of the season.

The goal came four minutes after Nashville SC's Hany Mukhtar was subbed out not long after he was slow to get up.

D.C. United goal allowed after long review, cuts SC lead to 2-1

D.C.'s first goal allowed after officials reviewed the play and determined that United was not offside. Silvan Hefti scored the goal, the first of his career, at 61 minutes to pull his team to within 2-1.

Shak Mohammed and Sam Surridge scored for SC. Surridge scored first, on a penalty kick. Mohammed also received a yellow card late in the first half.

Nashville SC's Sam Surridge pushed his team-high goal total to 11 when he scored on a penalty kick to give his team a 1-0 lead at 32 minutes in the first half.
