GenBank Now Supports EGAPx-Based Annotation

GenBank Now Supports EGAPx-Based Annotation

With the latest release of EGAPx, we’re excited to announce that you can now submit genome assemblies with EGAPx annotations directly to GenBank. We’re making it easier for researchers to share richly annotated eukaryotic genomes, complete with structural and functional features generated by the EGAPx pipeline.

What’s new?
  • Easily integrate your EGAPx annotations into GenBank: You can now attach the EGAPx-generated ASN.1 annotation file as part of a submission package.

  • Update existing GenBank records with EGAPx annotations: For existing assemblies, submitters can easily add EGAPx annotations to their assemblies based on the GCA assembly accession.
  • Handle high-throughput data with ease: EGAPx now better supports full-length RNA reads and large transcriptome datasets, making it easier to annotate complex genomes with confidence.
  • Get a more complete picture of your genome: EGAPx can now annotate rRNAs, tRNAs and other short ncRNAs, and more accurately identify long non-coding RNAs and pseudogenes, helping you better capture the full set of genes in your genome.
  • Automatic BUSCO lineage selection and improved intron modeling: EGAPx picks the right lineage for quality checks automatically and builds better gene models by refining how introns are predicted, saving you time and improving annotation accuracy.
  • Expanded taxonomic support and performance improvements: The latest update includes broader species support and behind-the-scenes improvements to speed and stability, so you can annotate more types of genomes, more efficiently.
