3If trains are done for the night, why would there be taxis on the station stand? They will only be any if they expect people to have missed the last train. Even if there are it is obviously more reliable to book a car, since those on the stand might all have been taken.Weather Vane– Weather Vane2026-01-29 09:08:09 +00:00Commented 2 days ago

1... because they've arrived on one of the final trains and the trains to Boston Back Bay are done for the night?matt freake– matt freake2026-01-29 09:24:42 +00:00Commented 2 days ago

2@WeatherVane Last train FROM Providence is at 11:25 pm (so too early for OP) but last train TO Providence arrives at 1:12 am so there could still be taxis waiting for those (though I'm not familiar with the station at all). It's also not certain a taxi would be willing to go for a 2h ride (back and forth) at that time. Probably best to book in advance, especially if the timing is due to attending some event which may result in a lot of demand for taxis.jcaron– jcaron2026-01-29 09:39:40 +00:00Commented 2 days ago

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. air-travel), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
