Catalogue of stellar dimensions
Abstract
The Catalogue presents angular diameters of 2392 stars, linear diameters, absolute magnitudes and spectroscopic parallaxes for 2301 stars. Sections 1 and 2 review the data that were used for the calculation of the diameters. Previous attempts of computing stellar diameters, using the colour and the surface brightness, are briefly discussed. For the diameters in the present Catalogue, the colour index is again used; the method, based on a calibrated surface brightness, was used before by the first author (Wesselink 1969). The quantities Te and BC have not been used in the present work. The accuracy of the Catalogue is discussed in detail. Frequency distributions of log d, log R, Mv and log p are shown graphically.
