Natural Units Before Planck
Abstract
The first introduction of natural units into physics is universally attributed to Max Planck, however, similar units were used by George Johnstone Stoney as early as 1874. They arose out of investigations that led to Stoney's successful prediction of the electron charge and their development is described here.
