Demonstration of reusing electric vehicle battery for solar energy storage and demand side management
Abstract
We demonstrated reusing traction lithium ion batteries as a stationary EES system. Energy storage accumulate excess PV panel and discharges during peak hours. BMS incorporates state of charge estimator based on extended Kalman filter. A novel estimation scheme was developed to track the battery state of health. Test data obtained in Davis, CA shows a 64% to 100% reduction in daily grid draw.
