As we mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, approximately 200,000 people across the globe will hear the words no one wants to hear: you have breast cancer. And while care has come a long way, there is still more to do. Progress comes from clinicians, policymakers, patient advocates and industry, aligned around a shared goal — improved outcomes for every person living with breast cancer. We are working towards a future where breast cancer is no longer a cause of death. That ambition can only be realised through collaboration, with a community committed to continuously raising standards of care and ensuring no patient is left behind. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

In type 2 diabetes, cardiorenal complications don’t just build up. They can compound. New findings from the AstraZeneca-sponsored and funded CALOR study, including more than 2.8 million people newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes across the US, UK and Japan, showed that once chronic kidney disease or heart failure developed, there was a higher five-year risk of developing complications. Understanding this interplay could help pre-empt risk and support earlier disease management. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eZH2he5k #EASD2026 #WhatScienceCanDo

Knowing the risk factors for cardiovascular disease can help provide a broader picture of health, but helping more people manage those risks requires continued innovation in care. Hypertension and dyslipidaemia are interconnected conditions that can impact the heart and increase cardiovascular risk over time. Despite advances in care, there is still work to do to help more people reach recommended blood pressure or LDL-C goals. This World Heart Day, we’re advancing science to address these risk factors while pursuing new approaches aimed at addressing cardiovascular risk earlier. As Blood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, our ambition to helping redefine blood cancer care continues. The experiences shared by patients and advocacy organisations throughout the month underscore the realities of living with blood cancer and the importance of understanding ongoing unmet needs. By working together across patients, advocates, healthcare professionals and researchers we can continue advancing innovation and strengthening support for the blood cancer community. #BloodCancerAwarenessMonth

At Climate Week NYC, we joined partners across healthcare, government, academia and civil society. From investing $100m in our Young Health Programme, to integrating climate and health into medical education, and launching a new tool that helps clinicians better understand the environmental impact of care pathways, we’re proving that collective action can help accelerate more sustainable healthcare. By working in partnership, we can advance progress to improve the health of patients, health systems and the planet. #WhatScienceCanDo #ClimateAndHealth #ClimateWeekNYC

Cancer remains a leading cause of death globally, claiming around 10 million lives each year. In a recent conversation with New Scientist, Susan Galbraith, our Executive Vice President, Oncology Haematology R&D, discusses why tackling such a complex disease requires a coordinated effort across multiple treatment modalities, early intervention and cutting-edge technologies. Read the full discussion here to learn how we are aiming to transform outcomes for patients: https://lnkd.in/e6VFucyZ

Investing in young people is an investment in healthier, more equitable communities. With over $100 million invested into our Young Health Programme (YHP) from 2010 to 2030, we’re helping: 📉Prevent chronic diseases 🩺Tackle health inequities 🌎Address the health impacts of climate change Together with UNICEF, Plan International, One Young World and 60+ NGO partners, we aim to reach 10 million more young people and train 800,000 youth advocates globally by 2030. The delivery of patient care accounts for around 40% of healthcare sector emissions, making it one of the most significant, yet underexplored, opportunities to decarbonise healthcare. Today we're launching CARESA: a free tool that helps clinicians and health systems estimate the environmental footprint of patient care pathways, from diagnosis and treatment to hospital stays. Already tested by more than 300 users across 25 countries, CARESA is helping partners explore how earlier diagnosis, improved disease control and alternative healthcare settings could support better outcomes for patients and the planet. 🌍 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/ePtqEdpp #WhatScienceCanDo #CARESA #ClimateWeekNYC

As the global oncology community gathers for World Cancer Congress, continued progress in early detection, diagnosis, and treatment remains an important focus across cancer care. Advances in diagnostics and tailored therapies are contributing to ongoing progress for patients and the clinicians involved in care, including people such as Dr. Busakhala. Realising the full potential of these advances requires continued collaboration across research, care delivery, and health systems globally. Follow this story to learn more about the role innovation can play in the ongoing progress of cancer care. #WorldCancerCongress

The European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE) is helping medical schools integrate climate and health into clinical training – supporting healthier, resilient and sustainable health systems. In its first full year, the network has: • Reached 6,000 medical students • Engaged 61 medical schools in 16 countries • Educated 3,000+ faculty members Supported by AstraZeneca through the Sustainable Markets Initiative Health Systems Task Force, ENCHE is preparing the next generation of doctors to respond to climate change and deliver more sustainable care.
