Who are you kidding when you lie on your resume? The answer? Yourself. And here’s why 👇 There are countless data sources that can now compare your résumé with your LinkedIn profile and instantly spot discrepancies. Where employers once relied on manual referencing, they can now cross-check the information you’ve made publicly available in seconds. And that’s before we even get to formal background checks. It’s not just regulated businesses using external companies like to verify employment dates and education. Many non-regulated firms are also tightening up and de-risking their hiring with the same process. We recently saw a case where a candidate was advised by another firm to remove a short stint in a role from their resume and instead extend their previous role to cover the gap. Guess what? It came out during the background check. The candidate had told the truth on the background form, but the timelines didn’t match. The result? A preventable red flag. Here’s the thing; not every job works out, and that’s okay. Most employers understand that. Search firms must also be more diligent and call these gaps out, we owe it to our customers to ask the tough questions when representing someone. Because bending the truth on your resume? That just puts your integrity into question. Be honest from the start, because in the end, you’re only fooling yourself and everyone ends up with egg on their faces.

Leadership Changes at Engage PSG Search Engage PSG Search are delighted to announce some changes to our leadership structure in our Global Team. Aaron Noakes is appointed Managing Director – EMEA. Bas B. is appointed SVP – US markets. Aaron and Bas will run expanded teams in EMEA and United States, respectively. Both have been outstanding performers at Engage for many years and they have contributed hugely to record revenue numbers in the 2024/25 financial year. They will be responsible for the strategy and execution for growth, building on their expertise and knowledge of the Digital Identity and Fraud markets and expanding into new areas that we can build GTM search capabilities.
