Very worrying scenes of fires ravaging Dunwich and the surrounding AoNB. It's a stark reminder of the risks we're facing at the moment, and perhaps going into the future. Community engagement often works best when people are invited to speak plainly. Not everyone will use policy language. Not everyone will attend a meeting. Not everyone will describe their views as “strategic priorities”. But many people can say something useful if asked in a human way: “Please don’t forget...” “What would really help is...” “The thing people don’t always see is...” For Pride in Place, those everyday observations matter. Volunteering Matters is collecting views from people connected to Whitehouse, Stoke Park and Chantry through area-specific surveys. Community Action Suffolk is hosting a Pride in Place workshop next week for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups connected to Stoke Park and Chantry. Tuesday 4 August 10am to 12.30pm Paul’s Social Club, Ipswich The session is free to attend and is designed to gather ideas and thoughts on how long-term Pride in Place investment could support the area. VCFSE organisations often hold vital local knowledge about need, gaps, community strengths and opportunities. Lee Walker has been appointed Chair of the Stoke Park Neighbourhood Board, marking an important milestone for Pride in Place in Ipswich.
