Organization-wide DEX scores are useful. Role-level insight is powerful. When financial firms connect employee experience data to the work people actually do, they can prioritize the problems that truly affect payments, fraud and customer-facing teams. Our Chief Product & AI Officer Oli Giordimaina explores how in his latest Finextra piece: https://lnkd.in/gjBHaKmb #DigitalEmployeeExperience #FinancialServices #AIOps

The DEX market is maturing — which means your questions about DEX should be evolving, too. “How does SRE enhance DEX?” “What is the MTTR validation tax?” “What exactly is the AI doing with our data?” These are just a few of the questions to ask according to our Chief Product Officer for AI, Oli Giordimaina, who explains how to make a smarter buying decision in his latest article: https://lnkd.in/gvJifwhW

Today Lakeside Software started its 30th year in business. In the software world, you don’t see that very often. Tools come and go. Whole categories get invented, hyped up, and replaced. Staying useful to your customers for three decades is a lot harder than having one good idea. It takes people who show up every day and do the work. For 30 years. I don't take that for granted. The technology matters, but the reason SysTrack still improves the working lives of millions of people is the effort and ingenuity of the people who build it, support it, and stand behind it. They are Lakeside. I'm also more convinced than ever that this work matters more in this moment, not less. AI is changing what software can do at a pace I've never seen. Thirty years of endpoint data, and a pretty good sense of how people actually work, is what turns that speed into something genuinely useful. To the Lakeside team: thank you. You've built something that lasts, and that’s no small thing. Here's to year 30.

💡Expert opinions: ‘How shared endpoint context helps MSPs turn AI support into real capacity gains’ by Oli Giordimaina, Chief Product Officer AI, Lakeside Software MSP service desks already have a combination of chatbots, self-service portals, AI routing, and virtual agents bolted onto their technology stack. They quickly clear password resets and basic access requests without much drama, freeing up skilled engineers for higher-value work. The real bottleneck in resolving more complex support requests comes earlier: gathering the context a technician needs to diagnose the issue. Before they can actually start troubleshooting, they often have to play twenty questions with a frustrated user just to establish the basics, such as device details, the problem and their attempts to fix the issue. DEX is good. DEX tied to real business outcomes is better, which is why you need service-level objectives and indicators to really make a difference for employees. See how to bring it all together in Forbes, with the latest article from our CEO Mike Schumacher. https://lnkd.in/gFyKbNvR

Our Chief Product and AI Officer Oli Giordimaina shares valuable insights in Finextra on why financial institutions should extend Site Reliability Engineering beyond traditional infrastructure. The key takeaways: - Employee technology is a critical dependency for operational resilience, but traditional service metrics measure disruption after it happens - SRE shifts the focus to preventing disruption through SLOs, observability, and proactive intervention - Real-world examples show the value of treating the employee workspace as a reliable service - Metrics should prioritise uninterrupted working time and first-time resolution over ticket volumes Operational resilience doesn’t stop at the customer-facing application—it extends to the last mile where employees deliver services. Are SRE skills the new prerequisites for DEX job functions?
In doing prep work for the Forrester Wave for DEXM, I looked around to see what was new in DEX job postings. One new addition seems to be SRE experience as a pre-requisite. Why, you may ask? Well... While DEX traditionally lived in the realm of End-User Computing (EUC) and IT support (focused on device health, software deployment, and helpdesk tickets) the increasing complexity of the modern workplace is forcing a shift. As companies rely more on distributed systems, cloud applications, and hybrid work models, the methods used to ensure employee productivity have had to evolve. I believe the core reason for this shift is scale and complexity. When employees rely on a web of SaaS applications, identity providers, VPNs, and local hardware, a failure in any one link degrades the employee experience. Traditional IT support reacts to these failures; SRE aims to prevent them. From Reactive to Proactive: SRE applies software engineering mindsets to operational problems. Instead of waiting for a user to submit a ticket when an application crashes, an SRE approach uses automation and telemetry to detect and resolve the issue before the user is even aware of it. Treating Infrastructure as Code: Modern DEX roles increasingly involve managing configurations, policies, and deployments programmatically. Experience managing infrastructure as code (using tools like Terraform) is becoming highly valuable for ensuring consistent and reliable end-user environments. Focus on Telemetry and Observability: Just as SREs rely heavily on monitoring server health and application performance, DEX professionals are adopting advanced observability tools. This allows them to track the entire chain of employee experience—from device performance to network latency to SaaS availability. Don’t take my word for it. Do a search for “DEX Engineer” job postings and you’ll find them now asking for experience with scripting languages (like Python or Go), configuration management, and a deep understanding of networking protocols, in other words, skills that look very similar to an SRE resume. The bottom line is that as the employee experience becomes entirely reliant on complex digital infrastructure, companies need people who can engineer reliability holistically into that infrastructure in cooperation with the rest of IT, rather than just being the people EUC tickets get assigned to when the problem’s with the endpoint.
