Moa wins Defra funding competition! We're pleased to announce that we have won over £900,000 in non-dilutive funding in a Defra/Innovate UK competition for technologies improving productivity, sustainability and resilience across UK agriculture. The funding, which is being matched by private sector investment from Oxford Science Enterprises, will help accelerate development of our exciting novel mode of action herbicide designed to help British cereal farmers control resistant blackgrass - a problem that already costs the UK economy over £400 million a year. Farming Minister Stephen Morgan said: “Blackgrass is one of the toughest challenges facing our arable farmers, reducing yields and making it harder to grow crops. "That’s why we’re backing Moa Technology's work through our Farming Innovation Investor Partnership to develop new herbicides to tackle it, alongside increasing farming innovation funding to £123 million this year. By investing in innovation and backing the brilliant researchers and businesses developing solutions for farmers, we’re helping to build a more productive, sustainable and resilient farming sector for the future.” https://lnkd.in/e6DD3hKB Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Oxford Science Enterprises Innovate UK #farming #blackgrass #herbicideinnovation

Our very own Dr Ben Chappell, head of synthetic chemistry at Moa, is speaking at the American Chemical Society's Fall meeting in Chicago tomorrow, in Room S502a at the McCormick Place Convention Center from 9.55-10.20am. Dr Ben will be talking about our unique approach to novel crop protection discovery, and some of our newest Moa Amplifier TM leads, which are not herbicides on their own but have the potential to reduce herbicide use rates and/or broaden the spectrum of weeds controlled. Do stop by to hear him if you are in town! https://lnkd.in/exjgZkfb
