Your CPCs are rising. So… it must be your Quality Score, right? 👀 Not necessarily. Quality Score can tell you where to investigate, but it doesn't tell the whole story behind what you're paying for a click. Competition, auction mix, Smart Bidding, query targeting, platform changes and search context can all influence CPCs. The better question isn't just: “How do we make our clicks cheaper? It's: “What value are we getting from those more expensive clicks?” Dii Pooler's article breaks down what you should actually investigate when CPCs start climbing — and why chasing a 10/10 Quality Score might be sending you in the wrong direction. 👉 Go to ppc dot live for the full article #CPC #QualityScore #DigitalMarketing #PPCStrategy #SmartBidding #AdAuction #SearchMarketing

“PPC is easy these days, isn’t it?” Smart Bidding does the bidding. Performance Max does the targeting. Automation does most of the heavy lifting. So… what are PPC specialists actually doing? It’s a question Sean Healy, Senior PPC Strategist at Journey Further, hears surprisingly often. And his answer is simple: PPC hasn’t become easier. The work has changed. Yes, PPC specialists are spending less time making manual bid adjustments than they did in the past. But that time hasn’t disappeared. Today, PPC teams are managing more campaign formats, more features and increasingly complex accounts. Conversion tracking has become far more advanced — and far more critical. When something breaks, fixing it quickly can be the difference between maintaining performance and watching an account head in the wrong direction. Then there’s the constant stream of new Google Ads features. Every new feature creates another question: Should we use it? Will it actually improve performance? How does it interact with everything else in the account? And how do we know? We test. That’s the part of modern PPC that often gets overlooked. Automation hasn’t removed the need for PPC specialists. It has shifted the job away from manually pulling every lever and towards deciding which levers are worth pulling in the first place. As Sean explained during his PPC Live talk, modern PPC is increasingly about testing, measurement and making sense of an advertising platform that has more features and automation than ever before. So no, PPC isn’t just “set Smart Bidding, launch Performance Max and let Google handle it.” The manual work may have changed. The thinking certainly hasn’t. Well for those who are good at their jobs! 😉😁 Go to the PPC Live YouTube page for the full video #PPC #SmartBidding #PerformanceMax #Automation #DigitalMarketing #PPCStrategies #ConversionTracking

When PPC performance stalls, the usual advice is pretty familiar: increase budgets, launch another campaign type, expand to a new platform or hand more control over to automation. But the question isn't just how you can spend more. It's whether spending more will actually solve the problem. When growth slows down, increasing budget can feel like the obvious next step. But if the real constraint is demand, measurement, conversion rate or creative, more budget isn't necessarily going to unlock more growth. At PPC Live #22, Susan Yen, Head of Paid Media at SearchLab, will tackle exactly this question: what's really holding your performance back? In her talk, she'll explore how to identify the real constraint in an account before deciding that the answer is simply to scale. You'll discover the signals that can help you determine whether you're dealing with a demand problem, a measurement problem, a conversion problem, a creative problem or simply an account that isn't ready for more budget. Susan will share real-world examples and a practical framework for deciding whether to: 🔹 Fix the problems limiting your current performance 🔹 Change your approach before adding more budget 🔹 Scale when the account is genuinely ready for it The goal isn't to spend more. It's to understand what's actually limiting performance and make what you're already doing work better before you try to scale it. If you're managing PPC campaigns where performance has plateaued and you're wondering what the next lever to pull should be, this is the conversation you should be paying attention to. 💥 Founder's note - Yesterday, I was invited to Technology of Marketing and was presented with this awesome recognition as a top 30 influencer in Marketing. It was amazing and very humbling. I have gladly pushed ahead with building the PPC Live brand and its resources... the events the blog the newsletter the slack channel the podcast (hosted and produced by myself thanks to Riverside) raising funds (thanks to our amazing sponsors) Through this company - companies have gained leads, people have gained jobs, freelances have come across new revenue opportunities. That feels me with so much joy. And I have plans for a new project that I will be bringing out in 2027 alongside PPC Live's ambassador and consistent supporter Veronika Höller. But all of this takes time and effort and time is money. The wonderful TFM award didn't come with a cash prize. It came with motivation to do more. 😬😄 So I would really appreciate if you could consider contributing to our Buy Me A Coffee account. It will go a long way to keeping this community running like a well oiled machine. ☕️ Thanks to our contributors so far such as Barry Schwartz, Dids Reeve, Dii Pooler, Veronika Höller, @Sophie Fell, Kelsey Frick, Miracle Inameti-Archibong CMgr FCMI. You make my heart so full!! Yours very gratefully, Anu Adegbola, mMBA PPC Live Founder

Who should own your Google Ads account? 🤔 It might sound like a straightforward question. But when agency relationships change, account ownership can become a much bigger issue than many businesses realise. Your Google Ads account isn't just where campaigns run. It's where years of data, testing, optimisation, audience insights and strategic decisions accumulate. So, who should own that asset? We asked the PPC Live community, and the conversation brought up some important questions about the relationship between clients and agencies. 🔹 Who owns the advertising account and its data? 🔹 What happens to campaign history when an agency relationship ends? 🔹 How can businesses maintain control without managing PPC themselves? 🔹 What about first-party data, integrations and connected marketing infrastructure? The discussion highlighted an important distinction: The client owns. The agency or consultant manages. But there are nuances, including commercial arrangements, transparency and how ownership is defined in contracts. If you're a business owner, agency leader or PPC professional, this is a conversation worth having before problems arise. 📖 Read the full article: Who Should Own Your Google Ads Account? Google's latest Smart Bidding update has made one thing clear: PPC advertisers need to take a closer look at their Target CPA strategies. But the question isn't just what Google has changed. It's whether the targets you're using still make sense for your business. With the August 17th Smart Bidding update affecting campaigns that are limited by budget, advertisers need to pay closer attention to how Target CPA influences campaign performance, growth and acquisition costs. At PPC Live, Laura I. Abreu will be our first speaker on October 21st, tackling exactly this question. In her talk, she'll explore what happens when your Target CPA starts working against you, particularly across lead generation accounts where targets are often based on historical performance, Google's recommendations or simply what the account has always used. You'll discover when Target CPA helps, when it can restrict growth, and what to check before making changes to your bidding strategy. Laura will share a practical framework for deciding whether to: 🔹 Keep your current Target CPA 🔹 Adjust your target to reflect what a conversion is genuinely worth 🔹 Move towards Maximise Conversions or value-based bidding The goal isn't to react to every Google Ads update. It's to understand whether your bidding strategy is still aligned with your business objectives and whether your targets are helping or limiting performance. If you're managing lead generation campaigns, this is the conversation you should be paying attention to after the August 17th update.
