Andy Renshaw reposted thisAndy Renshaw reposted thisBREAKING: 19 banks just pooled £50M to build a payment network that bypasses Visa and Mastercard in the UK. The working group: Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, JPMorgan Chase, Citi, PayPal, Nationwide, and Wise - they are calling it UK Payments Delivery Co. The £50M is meant to fund it through 2028. This is the third signal in a year that card networks are under siege: → Capital One bought Discover to own a network → JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and PNC were reportedly exploring Fiserv's debit network → Now 19 banks are building one from scratch The economics are straightforward - banks already hold the money. Why can't they just move it to the merchant at the time of the transaction, and skip the network fee entirely? That's the same question we asked building Percents. If your goal is to be the next Visa or Mastercard, there's a huge journey, but the rail is step one. Here's what the rail-builders are underestimating: owning the rail doesn't change who funds the reward. A bank that builds its own payment network still needs to give cardholders a reason to use it. Today that reason is interchange-funded cashback and points. A new rail changes whose network fee you pay. It doesn't change who funds the loyalty. The margin shift is one layer up! So, when a merchant funds a reward for a bank's cardholders, the bank earns revenue that doesn't depend on interchange. No regulator can cut what a merchant voluntarily pays for. My prediction: the first bank to prove merchant-funded rewards earn more per active cardholder than interchange will stop building rails and start building merchant relationships.

Andy Renshaw reposted thisAndy Renshaw reposted thisI asked a team what thinking mode they were in. Nobody could answer. They were 45 minutes into a planning session. Half the room was generating ideas. The other half was evaluating them. Both were frustrated with each other. Neither knew why. This is a pattern I see constantly. Two thinking modes running at once. Nobody naming which one they're in. Divergent thinking expands. Convergent thinking contracts. Both are necessary. Wrong mode, wrong time. That's where teams get stuck. Most teams default to convergent. Organisations reward decisions over exploration. So the divergent phase gets cut short. Then everyone wonders why the ideas feel thin. I see it in product teams, offsites and coaching. When someone names the mode, the room shifts. People stop fighting and start collaborating. One question changes it: "Are we going wide or focusing in right now?" Which mode does your team default to? ♻️ Repost this to help others. Andy Renshaw reposted thisAndy Renshaw reposted this11 public speaking strategies most people learn after 100 painful presentations Most people don’t fear public speaking. They fear what might happen while they’re speaking. Forgetting the next point. Losing the audience. Looking nervous. Hearing silence after a joke. So they make the biggest mistake. They try to memorize every word. Great speakers don’t memorize more. They rely on better systems. A 3-second pause. 5 seconds of eye contact. 3 clear points. A story under 2 minutes. An opening practiced 3x more than the rest. Small techniques. Big difference. Because confidence doesn’t always come before you speak. Sometimes, confidence comes from knowing exactly what to do when your nerves show up. You don’t need to become fearless. You need a system that still works when you’re nervous. Save these 11 strategies before your next presentation. Which 1 will you try first?

Andy Renshaw reposted thisAndy Renshaw reposted thisLanguage follows a predictable script. Financial crime, on the other hand, is a chaotic, constantly moving target. Criminals don’t follow the rules of the law and, when discovered, they invent new strategies. A customer’s “normal” behavior isn’t just hard to guess; it’s being constantly mimicked or manipulated by sophisticated fraudsters. Because transactional data is so noisy, current defenses are forced to catch up against threats that evolve faster than the software meant to stop them. At Feedzai, we're stepping up to the challenge. Say 'hi' to RiskFM: The industry's first Tabular Foundation Model built exactly for risk decisioning across the entire financial crime lifecycle. Andy Renshaw liked thisAndy Renshaw liked thisDon't pick an AI tool and then try to fit into the jobs. Instead, pick the tool based on the job you need to finish. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity overlap more every month, and the lines keep moving. This comparison by AI For Leaders is a great starting point. 1 → ChatGPT for flexible creation and problem solving. Use it to explore ideas, draft copy or turn source material into a plan. For repeat work, keep related chats, files and instructions together in a Project. 2 → Gemini when your work already lives in Google. It works right inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail and Drive. Try one handoff, like turning project notes into an update for your team. 3 → Claude for long reading and careful reasoning. Give it long reports, research and technical drafts that need one consistent argument. Ask for the supporting passage with each finding, then check it yourself. 4 → Perplexity for research you can trace back to sources. Open the cited pages, check their dates and confirm each one supports the claim. A citation shows you where the evidence is, so you still need to read it. A great tip is to run the same prompts through two tools. Compare the accuracy, usefulness, and the time spent fixing errors. Start with one real task and a clear measure of success. Andy Renshaw liked thisAndy Renshaw liked thisNobody has ever explained all of Claude to you. But everything you've learned (so far) was level one: Level 1. Install Claude app, even if you never use it. You will use the browser 90% of the time, and that's fine. But the day you need Claude to touch a real folder, you don't want to be downloading, logging in and re-granting permissions while the work waits. Set it up on a slow Tuesday. Use it on a fast one. Level 2. Escalate on failure, not on anticipation. Don't pick the best model "just in case." Start with Sonnet. When it gives you a bad answer, that's your evidence the task is genuinely hard - then move up. You'll discover most of your work never needed the heavy brain, and the 5% that did is now obvious. And when you switch, switch inside the same conversation. Claude keeps the thread. Starting fresh throws away everything you already explained. Level 3. One correct answer = low effort. That's the whole test. "Reformat this table" has one right answer; don't let it think. "Should we price at 40 or 60" has trade-offs - let it think properly. The mistake: turning thinking up on a task that had one right answer. You get a reasoned paragraph explaining why the wrong answer is correct. Level 4. Count your messages before you start. if you've explained the same context twice in two different chats, stop. That's a Project. Set it up once and every future chat starts where you left off. Level 5. Say the output format in your 1st sentence. Not after. Ask for "a one-page Word doc" or "an Excel model" up front and you skip the wall of text entirely. Don't generate 900 words, then ask for a doc, then get the 900 words again with headings. Two prompts wasted, every single time. Level 6. Turn your corrections into instructions. The second time you correct Claude on the same thing, that correction becomes a Skill. "Stop using em dashes." "Always give me the number before the explanation." "Never open with a summary." Correct it twice → write it down once → never say it again. Most people spend a year giving the same three corrections daily. Your first 20 minutes, in order: 1. Install desktop app. 2. No settings is the best. 3. Connect ONE tool - not everything. 4. Make one Project for the work you do weekly. 5. Write 1st Skill from a correction you already gave. Step 5 is the one you'll never do, so I'll make it easy. ✦ My favourite Claude Skills are free on https://lnkd.in/e3gi-mDa - the exact ones I use every day.

Compliance doesn't slow businesses down. Bad systems do. Manual reviews. Disconnected tools. Alerts that require a human to touch every single one. That's where compliance teams get buried — and where businesses become exposed. Now imagine this instead: ✅ 95% of AML alerts auto-cleared ✅ No large compliance team required to achieve it ✅ Full audit trail — always live, always ready ✅ Every decision documented automatically This isn't a product claim. This is a live result from an operator running on RemitSo. What makes it possible: 👤 Real-time KYC and identity verification 📊 AML rules and transaction monitoring ⚠️ Sanctions screening across 40,000+ records 🧾 SAR auto-generation and audit logs One engine. Always on. Built into the platform — not connected to it. Because regulators don't ask what you planned to do. They ask what you can prove you did. Lessons from Mutual Banks — and what Non-Bank Lenders can do differently When mutual banks first implemented CDR, many assumed consent management was a simple technical flow. In practice, it required coordination across technology, legal, product, and customer experience teams. Here are the most valuable lessons: 📌 Treat consent as a more than just a user interface: Several banks built consent screens that looked right but lacked auditable logs and traceable evidence of consent at each step. Regulators required complete audit trails, not screenshots. 📌 Get the lifecycle right from day one: Early implementations often missed automated expiry and revocation handling, leaving “ghost consents” active. Building lifecycle logic early avoided painful retrofits. 📌 Edge cases caused the biggest pain: Special cases such as products that partially meet eligibility criteria, consent failures, mistaken consents, and consent complaints were not considered in the original implementation scope. Many had to re-engineer their consent APIs mid-stream to handle these cases correctly. 📌 Align legal and UX early: Legal teams focused on compliance wording, while UX teams optimised for conversion. Without early alignment, consent screens became inconsistent and non-compliant. 📌 Don’t forget the authorisation mirror: Data holders must validate that each consented data request is matched with an equivalent authorisation. Missed synchronisation between systems led to data mismatches and consumer complaints. 💡 The takeaway: Consent and authorisation management is the front door of trust in the CDR ecosystem. The lenders who succeed will be those who design consent journeys that are both technically compliant and intuitively human. If you’re a non-bank lender and want to make sure your CDR plan is robust, or need help to prepare one, then get in touch on https://lnkd.in/graJaWbj 👉 If you missed our previous posts on Accreditation and Eligibility, the combined content can be downloaded from https://lnkd.in/g7BtfSQa. Every AML vendor has promised to reduce your false positives, and none has managed to do so. So your analysts spend the week clearing alerts on people who were never a risk, while the transaction that actually mattered clears quietly and moves on. The answer is not more coverage, because coverage on its own only creates more hits. It is context. Shufti binds every hit to the identity you have already verified, so matches against the wrong person are cleared automatically, and everything that remains arrives with a written reason attached. That is AML decisioning rather than AML screening, and you can see how it works here: https://lnkd.in/dGbq4BUh/?utm_campaign=LeadGeneration-DisplayAds-CompaniesTargeting&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=772880396&hsa_acc=512901490&hsa_cam=772880396&hsa_grp=872924816&hsa_ad=1581999556&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3

Weekly research from RegTech Analyst Two-thirds of compliance execs rank data quality and integration as the biggest AML efficiency barrier The FinCrime Frontier 2025–26 report captured insights from 250 senior financial crime and compliance leaders across banking, insurance, and FinTech worldwide The FinCrime Frontier 2025–26 report by SymphonyAI and AML Intelligence drew on insights from 250 senior financial crime and compliance professionals across banking, insurance, and FinTech worldwide. Respondents included senior executives, AML leaders, compliance officers, and risk and technology specialists, providing a comprehensive health check of how institutions are managing financial crime risk. The study was designed to surface the most pressing operational challenges holding back compliance effectiveness, as well as the structural changes shaping the future of AML programmes. Nearly two-thirds of respondents pointed to data quality and integration as the biggest barrier to AML efficiency, alongside resourcing and legacy technology challenges When asked what is holding back AML efficiency in 2025–26, respondents were permitted to select multiple answers, reflecting the interconnected nature of AML challenges. Nearly two-thirds (66%) cited data quality and integration as the single biggest blocker, underscoring persistent issues with fragmented client, transaction, and alert data. Resource constraints followed at 43%, while 40% pointed to outdated or inadequate technology solutions. These findings highlight a clear pattern: AML inefficiency is driven less by regulatory uncertainty and more by foundational data and infrastructure weaknesses that limit scalability and analytical accuracy. The findings highlight that meaningful AML efficiency gains depend on strengthening data, workflows, and investigative processes rather than automation alone Beyond data and technology, respondents also highlighted workflow-related pressures that erode productivity. Alert fatigue was cited by 31% of respondents as a significant drain on analyst capacity, while 16% pointed to slow case resolution as an ongoing bottleneck in investigations and escalation processes. Together, these results suggest that meaningful efficiency gains will not come from automation alone, but from addressing core enablers such as data integrity, modernised platforms, and better-aligned teams—unlocking faster investigations, stronger detection outcomes, and greater regulatory confidence. One theme keeps coming up in financial crime roundtables: data quality. In AML, “we’ve got bad data” isn’t something you can explain away to regulators. It’s also where teams lose a significant amount of time. In a recent poll of 550 compliance professionals, 59% said data quality is where they spend most of their time. And the cost of fixing it only increases the later it’s caught: $1 at entry $10 during screening $100 once it becomes remediation or a compliance failure That’s why we’re partnering with Nexus AML for our upcoming roundtable, From Chaos to Clarity: Getting Data Compliance-Ready, featuring fincrime SME Rob Cutler and our data expert Kieran Holland. We’ll cover: 🔏 The operational impact of poor data on AML teams and the wider organisation 📈 Practical steps to improve data quality without disrupting the business 💡 What compliance-ready data actually delivers — fewer false positives, smoother investigations, and less remediation Register here 👉 https://okt.to/BO5TaF

The UK government's recent consultation on reforming anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) supervision is set to bring about a significant transformation in the landscape of financial crime compliance. One of the most important changes is the proposal for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to take over the regulation of law firms, accountancy firms, and trust and company service providers (TCSPs). This expansion of the FCA’s supervisory role is designed to create a more consistent and effective approach to preventing financial crime across a range of sectors. In our latest blog, Srujay Reddy explains what this might mean for your firm and shares some key questions you should be asking: https://lnkd.in/e7Gkn7kq

Most bank fraud doesn't start with a suspicious transaction, it starts with a behaviour your systems aren't watching. Overrides, policy exceptions, alert dismissals: siloed monitoring misses the pattern until regulators are already at the door. konaAI's Banking 360 unifies behavioural, transactional, and operational risk into one real-time oversight layer aligned to OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, FinCEN, and DOJ expectations. Your peers in compliance are already rethinking their approach, read our latest blog to see why: https://lnkd.in/gg5tQBGh
