I think vfs_cache_pressure only clears dentry and inode caches, and has nothing to do with buffer cache.

Increasing vfs_cache_pressure above 100 may help in case you do not have enough RAM for your workload. It will reduce RAM usage but will cause poorer I/O performance overall.
