Independent Sudoku Grand Master Championship 2006

Published: 07 April 2006

Last year the Independent held the very first Sudoku Championship, which saw people from all over Britain competing for the title of Sudoku Grand Master.

Now we are launching the 2006 championship, and are hoping the contest will be even bigger than last time!

On Monday 10 April, and every day until 23 April, a championship grid will be printed in The Independent print edition. To enter the contest, participants need to complete nine of the fourteen grids, and send them through to the Sudoku Championship Committee. Once the puzzles have been verified, all successful entrants will be invited to take part in their local regional final. The fastest one hundred participants from the regional heats will then compete in London at the Grand Final, where the Sudoku Master will be crowned.

The winner will not only walk away with the coveted title of Grand Master, but also with a specially commissioned trophy, as well as a cash prize of £1,000.

Now that Sudoku has become an established part of our daily routine, we hope that you will want to test your skills and take up the challenge of becoming the Sudoku Grand Master Champion of 2006.
