The first three puzzles appear in my column Puzzle This in Vol. 5 of Make magazine. The illustrations were done by the amazing Mr. Roy Doty who did the original illustrations for the Popular Science Wordless Workshop articles in the 50s and 60s. The column was named AHA after the puzzler guru Martin Gardner who published a book by the same name.
