ISC DHCP

ISC DHCP is open-source software that implements the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocols for connection to a local network. It is a reference implementation of those protocols, but it is also production-grade software, suitable for use in high-volume and high-reliability applications.

DHCP is an Internet-standard protocol by which a computer can be connected to a local network, ask to be given configuration information, and receive from a server enough information to configure itself as a member of that network.

ISC developed and maintains ISC DHCP, and actively supports versions 3 and 4. Earlier versions, though not actively supported, are still available in our archives.

Our ability to maintain this software and be actively involved in furthering core Internet protocols is directly dependent on community subsidy and participation. Look here to learn about supporting us by joining the DHCP Forum, part of ISC's Software Guild.
