Escalante's

6582 Woodway

Houston, TX 77057

Website

If they quell an urge to overgrill and oversalt, this handsome cafe could become an upscale Mexican staple. Appealing sopes (pizza-style wheels of cornmeal), mashed-on-the-spot guacamole, substantial quesos and rosemary-scented roast chicken are winners; oversizzled grills are not. A brooding mural, cosmetic waiters and spiffy crowd add visual interest.

Holy Guacamole!! This place has the best guacamole made fresh at your table!!! MMMMMmmmmmmm. Good fajita and margaritas. All around one of my top five Mexican restaurants in Houston.
