Soccer superstars Ronaldinho, Peter Crouch, and Gennaro Gattuso will be featured worldwide on the FIFA Street 3 box covers.
The third chapter in the FIFA Street series creates a fast-paced and larger-than-life arcade football experience for the Xbox 360 and PS3. FIFA Street 3 creates a hyper-real world that merges the game’s biggest stars with environments that pulsate to the music in exotic locales around the world.
Featuring over 250 of the world’s best players representing 18 of the top international teams, each player has been rendered into a stylized caricature with heroic qualities. Decked out in authentic training kits, every player boasts their own, distinctive style of play with unique abilities to match. Whether you’re after brawn, brains, silky skills or crunching tackles to complete your team, the perfect street player is out there. Choose from Tricksters, Enforcers, Playmakers and Finishers to give you different options on the ball and make your mark on the street.
“FIFA Street 3 is about turning soccer icons into eye-popping characters through the game’s stylized art direction for an over-the-top arcade soccer experience,” said producer Joe Nickolls. “Ronaldinho, Crouch and Gattuso represent three of the different types of players available in our game and we were able to exaggerate their qualities to really create larger-than-life characters.”
Ronaldinho, the cover athlete on the original FIFA Street, is a global megastar and the Brazilian International and FC Barcelona midfielder’s list of accomplishments includes a FIFA World Cup winner’s medal, the 2004 and 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year, as well as the 2005 European Footballer of the Year award.
Joining Ronaldinho will be Italian World Cup-winning footballer Gennaro Gattuso. The creative midfielder, who plays for A.C. Milan, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League title in the 2002-03 and 2006-07 seasons, continues the tradition of world-class athletes donning the FIFA franchise covers. It is Gattuso’s first appearance on an EA SPORTS™ or EA SPORTS BIG cover.
Completing the trio of world class players will be Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch. Liverpool’s top goal scorer in the 2006-07 season, Crouch has also been a consistent goal scorer for the England national team. He will have his 6’7’’ height amplified to compliment his ball-striking and finishing skills to create a new soccer experience.
Using the same engine as the critically acclaimed NBA STREET Homecourt basketball arcade game, combined with the market-leading AI from FIFA 08, FIFA Street 3 delivers animations and ball control that enables you to take complete control of your players with a responsive and intuitive control system that makes it easier than ever to pull off sensational moves. Use the simple button configuration and analog stick to seamlessly combine moves – providing you with hundreds of different ways to show off your street skills. Fill up your all-new Game Breaker to power your ultimate abilities and express yourself like never before. Maneuver your players to leap past defenders, flip off walls, or perform gravity-defying one-timers to score spectacular goals.
From the urban playgrounds of South America to the rooftops in Asia to the streets of Europe, your players perform to an eclectic selection of music seamlessly infused into the surroundings, where the game’s environments pulsate, and explode to life with every well-timed tackle, outrageous trick move or unstoppable shot on goal.

FIFA 08 Mobile Trailer:
Electronic Arts (NASAQ: ERTS) today announced that EA SPORTS™ FIFA 08 will become available for mobiles across Europe from 27th September. EA SPORTS FIFA 08 bursts new with features that help recreate the passion for the beautiful game at the touch of a button, no matter where one is.

As one jumps into EA SPORTS FIFA 08, you are able to choose from over 100 authentic licensed teams from five of the top European leagues plus International teams if you desire. Players can perfect their technique via a tutorial before unleashing their skill in season mode and lead their team to glory. Alternatively, you can choose the new club challenge mode and tackles a series of gripping scenarios such as trying to win at 1-1 with only ten men on the field and 30 minutes left on the clock.
The feeling associated with playing in today’s high-pressure, competitive football environment is now replicated on one’s mobile phone with EA SPORTS FIFA 08. Famous TV football pundit, Andy Gray introduces team lineups and additional text commentary, including half-time performance updates – bringing those dirty tackles, blinding goals and controversial offside decisions to life.
EA SPORTS FIFA 08 for mobile draws on the same extensive database of player statistics, abilities and team information as the console version. Every player has individual statistics, with visual effects to highlight their skills. Enhanced season mode means games are connected throughout the season; injuries and fatigue are carried over into subsequent matches, yellow and red cards are recorded and accumulated and the commentator recognises one’s ongoing performance.
“We have added a huge number of new features to EA SPORTS FIFA08, putting one even closer to the action than ever before. The new ‘in-form’ players function, for example, randomly selects three players before each match and grants them heightened abilities for that match only, which really adds to the excitement,” commented Adrian Blunt, Producer, EA Mobile Europe. “Football is all about the passion and atmosphere associated with your team winning and we have tried to capture this in EA SPORTS FIFA 08 by bringing the game alive.”

Hands On: FIFA 2008 vs PES 2008
August 24, 2007
by Ross Hayward on August 24th, 2007 at 13:39
The annual fight between the two biggest football titles has officially commenced here in Germany, with both being shown not just at the own developer’s booths, but elsewhere on the floor too. We managed to play FIFA two days ago, but couldn’t get to PES until today. Having waited for around thirty minutes for the damn public to get out of our way, we finally stepped up to complete our hands on. We also have some video footage for you to check out.
Both games immediately look visually better than last year. FIFA 07 already looked good, however this year it again has improved. PES was always going to look better since it looked so awful last year on the 360, and it is certainly the best it has ever been. Naturally, this was reassuring to see.

Gameplay wise, both games remain totally different. PES 2008 is a lot smoother and quicker this year compared to its 360 outing last year, as passing was slow and heavy. Now, the ball zips across the park just as it used to, and it’s a welcome change. In contrast, FIFA feels a lot slower. It takes longer to get the ball moving up-field, and as such leaves you feeling a tad frustrated. The demo perhaps didn’t help since only one half was playable, whereas you got a full game of PES (very frustrating for the waiting queue behind though). Goals were scored infrequently, as players found it hard to get a lot of shooting opportunities. We watched quite a few games too, and this was proven by others, so it’s not just because we suck.
Ball physics are all important, and PES once again demonstrated why so many love it. The ball reacts the way it should all the time, bouncing off of players correctly so it becomes unpredictable. One game we witnessed whilst waiting in the queue for PES saw a corner come in, hit a defender but then bounce off of an attacker running in. The attacker accidentally put the ball into the net thanks to his knees. It was great because you see it time and again in real life, so to see it happen in a game is a pleasure. FIFA however had no such moments. Again this may have been because of the demo limit, but even in the virtual forty five minutes that were played, there were almost no scrambles that were exciting.
The controls are almost identical for both versions, except the shooting. If you have played both FIFA and PES’s iterations last year, then you will automatically be familiar with the controls; nothing at all has been changed that we noticed. Shooting hasn’t changed a great deal either, however a lot more time and a lot more games need to be played to see what affects balancing has, what affects cutting in from the sides has and so on.
Animation-wise, both games have their own unique attributes. Players surround the referee at bad decisions, tackles and the resulting collisions are done well in both games, and the movement of the top players such as Ronaldinho is spot on. Both games again have the very short cut scenes when a player is booked and their reactions can be seen up close. Here PES caused a slight concern, as there was some slow down during the scenes. The cutting to a replay too wasn’t as smooth as you’d hope for a new generation title.

Thanks to all the background noise, nothing could really be heard from either game (you’ll notice this in the videos included in the post). There were people shouting in German all over the place, so you’ll have to wait for the demos to check out the sound. Features too naturally weren’t available for viewing; both were just straight up demos of a friendly match as you would expect.
In the short time we spent with each game then, PES probably just about wins the battle. It plays smoother than FIFA although again not looking as pretty, but the ball physics separate them apart for now. Just because PES won this battle though, does not mean it will win this year’s War: there is still a long way to go.
FIFA 08 will ship in September, with PES 2008 shipping in October for Europe. The version we played of PES was 75% complete, but there was no completion percentage for FIFA.

A-League to feature in FIFA 08.
August 20, 2007
Football Federation Australia (FFA) CEO Ben Buckley today announced a new licensing partnership between FFA and Electronic Arts (EA), the world’s leading independent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software, through the “FIFA 08” football video game.
“This is the first time that the Hyundai A-League will feature in an official EA Sports videogame and as a result more than 20 million people globally will be directly exposed to A-League clubs and players during the next 12 months through the FIFA 08 product,” said Mr Buckley.
“It also gives me great pleasure to announce that Qantas Socceroo and Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson will be the face of FIFA O8 in the region, featuring heavily in the promotional campaign for the game. . While Thompson won’t actually appear on the cover of FIFA 08, he will be a spokesperson for the game and will be used in other EA promotions.
“This partnership with EA is another example of the level of corporate interest in the A-League and Football in Australia at present and we look forward to working with EA in the future,” concluded Buckley.
Speaking at Today’s announcement, Archie Thompson was ecstatic about named the FIFA 08 ambassador for Australia and New Zealand.
“I know that plenty of the boys at Melbourne Victory, and when we are in camp with the Qantas Socceroos, enjoy playing video games so it’s fantastic that we can now play as our favourite A-League club either in a league or against other international Clubs,” said Thompson.
“As I’m a big kid at heart, it’s great to feature in the game that I enjoy playing myself.
The A-League will join a group of around 30 football leagues from around the globe to feature in this game.
EA Sports have undertaken strong research to accurately capture the skills/abilities and traits of A-League players to place them into this global videogame.
FIFA 08 will be available for purchase from the 27th September 2007 to coincide with the world-wide release of the game.
