Introduction

The petroleum department is responsible for the administration of all oil and gas activities in Greenland.

This includes implementation of licence rounds, processing of applications for prospecting, exploration and exploitation of oil and gas, approval of applications for seismic surveys etc.

Furthermore the department supervise activities concerning safety and environmental issues in connection with oil and gas activities.
