Another incredible event wraps up a huge 2011 year, with three massive expos in Australia.

With 17,000 attendees in Melbourne, we hit a new record and rocked the venue to capacity. The separation of the main stage, back up to the upstairs auditorium, proved popular and reduced sound and gave attendees prime seating for panels and special events.

The Warner Brothers stand proved to be the star of the event with Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, promoting the just released Arkham City game, proving to be exceptionally popular.

As always the celebrity guests had constant demand and the array of different media stars, once again brought constant lines and interest.

With a record number of exhibitors, the event was a great showcase for a wide variety of products, with artists, comics, collectibles and more trading hands.

However, regardless of all the work and energy that went into the event, we would like to thank the many Helpers and fans who truly made this year’s show possible.

2012 BECONS

2011 saw the event expand into Adelaide and Sydney, companioning with the Melbourne event, running since 2007. Our aim was to enrich the event and bring something new to the market, filling a gap that we see in Australia, of sleek, organised events, with ques that make sense and short waits to get into the event. With this goal, we succeeded however there have been a lot of challenges that have made this a struggle for us.

We have been looking at how we can make the events work, build upon what we have done, but in the short term it is not possible, in part, due to behind the scenes changes both internally and externally.

For 2012 in Australia, we will ONLY hold the annual Melbourne expo, On October 13/14^th and look towards 2013 to re-launch ourselves in other territories. We will relook at Sydney and Adelaide in 2013, or maybe elsewhere.

We will be concentrating on hosting a number of conventions, starting in January with the continuation of our Star Trek themed events OzTrek7 and some new themed events including Shock Horror and our first Teen Wolf event in May along with many others we have planned.
