Madewell turned to the woods for its A/W 2012 collection, injected with a whimsical forest touch aptly described as "one part Wes Anderson-style quirk, one part urban woodland, and one part proper English professor." Cute farm-animal-printed sweaters were paired with silky shorts, striped pencil skirts with colour-blocked sweaters, and anoraks with printed pants. We especially loved the camel knit cocoon sweater paired with a neon yellow silk skirt. For accessories, Madewell supplied its usual bevy of covetable boots and colourful flats, but we also noticed a few new styles, like printed calf-hair loafers and ankle boots added to the mix. Fun fact: Madewell is owned by the same US company behind J.Crew, so... we're hoping praying that they follow suit and extend international shipping to include Australia. Following suit on this season's ultra-ladylike brand of styling, we've found ourselves falling captive to not only the ankle-strap silhouette (specifically, Rihanna's black pair), but the T-strap rendition as well. Its literal T-shaped bar provides a sleek finish, subtle peekaboo "cut-out," and an ankle slimming silhouette. After spotting the likes of model Jessica Stam, Evan Rachel Wood, and Chloe Moretz donning their own versions of the strap-happy style, we were inspired to get in on the trend, too.
