Moms Speak: A Guide to Autism

Jonathan SingerPut a handful of kids with autism in the same room together, and you'll have a hard time finding just two with the exact same diagnosis. But throw a couple hundred parents of kids with autism in the same room, and you'll find they all have one thing in common. They've been inspired by their amazing kids to make a difference in the world.

The growing number of kids on the spectrum has resulted in a growing number of people like Jonathan Singer. Since daughter Rebecca -- now a teenager -- was diagnosed in 1997, Singer has helped found an academy for kids with autism, written two books about special needs children, and driven cross country to raise money for the cause.

He's a hero for the special needs community. And now he needs your help.

Warren Buffett Announces He Has Cancer, but It's No Big Deal

Warren BuffettOne of the world's richest men, Warren Buffett, 81, dropped a bomb tonight -- he has cancer. Only it wasn't the explosive kind of bomb that rocks people to their core when they hear the "C" word. Rather it was more like a tiny little firecracker that just emits a small pop.

Though cancer of any kind isn't something insignificant, the type he has -- early stage prostate cancer -- is one of the most treatable and least deadly of all cancers. In a press release, he offered reassurance that his condition is "not remotely life-threatening."

'16 and Pregnant' Recap: Alex Made the Wrong Choice

Posted by Sasha Brown-Worsham
on Apr 18, 2012 at 12:12 AM

Tuesday night's episode of MTV's 16 and Pregnant was as heartbreaking an episode as I remember. Adoption, though usually a better decision for these girls, does make for a heart-wrenching episode. But Alex, predictably, decides against adoption, which ends up just being the wrong choice for so many reasons.

As much as my heart went out to her, her decision to keep the baby was a huge mistake. In fact, of all the parents ever on this show, it's possible Alex's baby daddy was the single worst. And he has a lot of competition.

It isn't that he is mean, he is just a party boy whose priorities are clearly not toward his girlfriend or baby.

'Real Housewives of Orange County' Recap: 'Glamping' Gets Ridiculously Rough for the Ladies

Posted by Julie Ryan Evans
on Apr 17, 2012 at 11:33 PM

Heathe DubrowI can't believe we just watched almost an entire hour of The Real Housewives of Orange County going glamping. That's glamorous camping in case you're wondering. You know, where you get to go spend time with nature ... without even touching it. Yeah, the whole episode was pretty much that gag worthy.

Gretchen Rossi couldn't go because her voice was still injured after screaming at Vicki Gunvalson, so she had to stay home and protect her vocal chords for the big upcoming Pussycat Dolls performance. Tamra Barney was still recovering from her breast removal surgery (and playing with the implants she saved) and couldn't go. Alexis Bellino was still moaning about her nose job, but she since she was the organizer, she just took a hair and makeup assistant along to make sure she was okay.

'Teen Mom' Jenelle Evans Almost Engaged to Ex Gary Head? What a Mistake!

Posted by Maressa Brown
on Apr 17, 2012 at 10:51 PM

Jenelle Evans on MTV teen momSounds like Teen Mom Jenelle Evans has a lot on her plate right now. According to some sources, she has apparently taken to posting on Twitter and Facebook about being with her son Jace when she's, err, not with him ... in order to look like a "good mom." And her former "friend" Tori has been selling stories to the press about her cutting. We also know she only recently broke up with her boyfriend Gary Head, because she rocked out and ranted on YouTube. In short, maybe girl would do really well to take a time-out to focus on taking care of herself and her son.

Nonetheless, it looks like had she and Gary not broken up, they might have taken a very different path. Judging from Gary's recent tweets ... it's pretty darn clear that he may have been planning on popping the question!

'DWTS' Results Recap: Maria Menounos Puts Angelina's Right Leg to Shame

maria menounos

It seemed very fitting that Maria Menounos and Derek Hough were the couple chosen to give an encore performance at the beginning of the Dancing With the Stars results show tonight -- but I can't help but wonder if the judges picked them simply to see if they would swap spit on the dance floor again. Everyone loves to see partners sexing things up a bit, right? But you gotta love that instead of making out with each other this time, Derek ran over and planted a fat one on Carrie Ann Inaba, while Bruno Tonioli got a piece of the action with Maria.

And the crowd went wild over their clever switcharoo -- but then viewers forgot all about who kissed who as soon as Maria's left boob made a surprise appearance after an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. Gah! Is she starved for attention or something? Because the body part baring thing didn't really work for Angelina Jolie. (Relax -- I'm kidding.)

'Glee' Recap: Finchel Is No Match for Brittana & the Sex Tape

Posted by Jeanne Sager

amber riley chris colferGleeks, I'm sorry, but it's time to break the news. The fate of Finchel may be the great question hanging over Season 3 of Glee. But the news that Brittany and Santana made a sex tape that came out of the Saturday Night Glee-ver episode  just proves Brittana is the ice cream sundaes of primetime hotness next to Rachel and Finn's vanilla on-again/off-again high school romance.

Oh yeah. Sex tape baby. And in the spirit of what makes Glee worth watching even when the music fails to move us (seriously Ryan Murphy? DISCO?), this one was epic.

10 Ways to Make Masturbating Even More Exciting

Posted by Michele Zipp
on Apr 17, 2012 at 9:23 PM

woman in shadowMasturbation. It's a solo act. And we all know that one is the loneliest number. Perhaps that's why some women don't take care of business that often (or ever). How very sad. But wait! Masturbaters know that that getting it on with yourself is a good time. Like really good. Sometimes the number one is just right -- solo, me time, all about you -- oh yes.

Masturbating -- no matter how often you do it -- doesn't have to be boring. You know how sometimes you can get stuck in a rut and the only kind of sex you have is missionary at night right before bed? The same could happen with your moments of self-love. The three minutes with your finger doesn't have to be confined to your bedroom. In fact, pleasuring yourself should sometimes have some bells and whistles (could be kinky!). You already (hopefully) have committed the 69 creative ways to have sex with yourself to memory, but here are 10 more ways to masturbate. Perhaps you'll try one. Or all.

5 Parenting Tasks I'd Like to Outsource to a Professional

Posted by Julie Ryan Evans
on Apr 17, 2012 at 9:16 PM

baby fingernailsAs much as I love being a parent, there are things about the job that I don't like at all. I've often thought how lovely it would be if only I could outsource the parts for which I don't show a lot of talent (or patience) ... then I quickly start making myself feel guilty for even thinking such awful thoughts about my darling children.

So I was glad to see a recent a column in Psychology Today by Jim Taylor -- a legit psychologist with a Ph.D -- that makes a pretty good case as to why ALL parenting duties should be outsourced. He lays out a logical argument as to why children would be better off if they were raised by professionals instead of parents.

Gwyneth Paltrow and I Love Eating Seaweed Even Though You Hate It

Posted by Adriana Velez

seaweed saladThere is something I love eating, but it's so repulsive that I have to eat it alone. Practically under cover of night. It's green and slimy and salty. It's seaweed. I love eating seaweed.

And not because it's insanely nutritious, either. Who cares about that. I actually love the taste.

There, I'm glad I got that off my chest. I've been carrying this shocking and embarrassing secret around with me for years. But seaweed is ready to out into the light! Once, it was just another trendy food for macrobiotic-noshing celebs like Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow. But behold! A seaweed salad recipe in the New York Times. Everyone's going to be eating it now, right? Hello?
