A consignment of Polaris Defense's Dagor lightweight patrol vehicles is scheduled for arrival in-country in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April, according to company spokesman Rich Haddad.
The country is the third to order the vehicle type, which was launched at the 2014 AUSA exhibition in Washington, DC, and the design only entered production in October of that year. The other two users are the US Special Forces Command and Australian forces (understood to have received their first vehicles in January). Haddad was unable to confirm the numbers that any of them had ordered or which elements of the United Arab Emirates' (UAE's) forces have ordered the vehicles.
He said that some minor amendments had been made to the design since AUSA in response to feedback from users, but that they were relatively minor, including a revised transmission tunnel cover (now removable in three sections to ease access and maintenance) and fuse box design.
With these orders, Polaris considers Dagor to be in full-rate production, building vehicles at a rate of one per day (to a maximum of 200 per year on standard shift patterns).
The four-seat version on display at IDEX was fitted with a CS5200 motorised ring mount and .50-calibre machine gun, which adds 25 kg to the Dagor's 2,041 kerb weight (without the gun or ammunition).
Dagor can be driven into a CH-47 Chinook, slung beneath an H-60 or low-velocity air-dropped.
