On April 1896, Havre Athletic Club Football Association had decided 
to challenge the new official French champions Club Fran�ais.  The 
Normandy team had offered to come to Paris three times (for a series 
of matches) without any financial help. Unfortunately, the Union des 
Soci�t�s Fran�aises de Sports Athl�tiques didn�t accept the challenge.
