Calling Ming Tsai competitive might be an understatement: He races his own kids up the stairs and does his best to win.
Tsai, owner of Blue Ginger in Wellesley, is one of 10 chefs competing on the Food Network's unscripted series "The Next Iron Chef" (season premiere tonight at 9.)
"Two of my favorite things outside of family are competition and food," Tsai said during a telephone interview while walking his dog through Natick. "And this was the only venue to combine both of those things. So I said, `Why not? Let's have fun with it.' "
Tsai is no stranger to television cameras. With such series as WGBH's "Simply Ming" and Food Network's "East Meets West with Ming Tsai" under his apron, the 46-year-old chef was at ease on the set. …
