Welcome Note

Convocation is a day to cherish innovative intelligences, undaunted leadership skills and memories of years of building bonds and discovering new depths. It is an event of utmost pride for both the students and the institution where newly found alumni will be formally acknowledged and lauded for their accomplishments.

The poignant picture of the graduate batch of 2015 clad in black gowns and caps is a moment of pride for Jain University. On the "5th Annual Convocation" of Jain University, degrees will be awarded to the students who have completed and excelled at various streams of education. Jain University for the first time will be awarding "Doctor of Philosophy" (Honoris Causa) to Smt. Kavitha Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Multi-Platinum Recording Artist & Playback Singer for her contributions to the Indian Music.

Jain University constantly strives to build on its four major fronts 1) Leadership 2) Innovative Entrepreneurship 3) Research and Training and 4) Sports. The journey in accomplishing excellence in these fields has been quite momentous. Over the years, Jain University has seen many transformations and accomplishments in the student fraternity. Last year, Jain University awarded over 2422 degrees to its students. This year, JU will laud its students with 2374 meritorious degrees.

Now the time has arrived to bid adieu to yet another batch of students. On behalf of Jain University I wish all the best to our graduates!

Dr. H R Nagendra is a renowned scholar, yoga therapist, scientist, and leader who has fostered and promoted the yogic sciences in India and all over the world. He has served as the Director of the Indian Yoga Institute, Prashanti Kutiram as well as the Chancellor of the Yoga University, Bangalore.

Dr. H R Nagendra has authored and contributed to over 100 papers and 35 books on yoga as well as several papers in the engineering sciences, having been associated with numerous prestigious universities and research institutions. He is well known as the yoga consultant to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has conducted yoga workshops and trainings for leading cabinet members and officials in New Delhi. As a visionary committed to moving the yogic science forward, Dr. H R Nagendra is the founder of cyclic meditation, a training which combines yoga postures and guided meditation to alleviate occupational stress and treat diseases such as asthma, cancer and psychiatric illnesses. He has successfully helped many overcome their symptoms and reach a state of health and mental well-being.

Recently, he was the chairman of the central committee for the International Day of Yoga which brought the spiritual and healing message of yoga to the global platform in a grand and celebratory way.

Honorary "Doctor of Philosophy" (Honoris Causa) to Ms. Kavitha Krishnamurthy Subramaniam

Jain University for the first time will be awarding "Doctor of Philosophy" (Honoris Causa) to Smt. Kavitha Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Multi-Platinum Recording Artist & Playback Singer for her contributions to the Indian Music.

About the singer

Ms. Kavitha Krishnamurthy is an acclaimed playback singer who has sung a wide range of classical-based songs in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industry. In her career, she has worked with a variety of music composers, including R. D. Burman, Ilayaraja, Hamsalekha and A R Rahman. She is also the recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Awards, including 3 consecutive awards in the period 1994–1996. She is also a recipient of the Padma Shri award, one of the most prestigious civilian honors awarded by the Indian government.
