Our Living Cities

Order, Urbis

The Order Gallery explores the city as a living, dynamic organism, how it is regulated and what systems are in place to avoid disorder and breakdown. It examines how explosive growth has meant a constant redrawing of the fine line that exists between order and disorder, public and private space, control and freedom, the crowd and the individual.

​Order provides an enthralling and, at times, unnerving vision of how cities function and overcome the ever present threat of disruption. Interactive installations investigating urban issues are housed in familiar street furniture - lampposts, bus shelters, telephone boxes…

​Visitors are prompted to think about their own experiences and their attitudes to city life.
