Voter turnout for Alameda County was 71% in the Nov 2024 presidential election • Voter turnout for Alameda County was 71% in the Nov 2024 presidential election

The Alameda County Registrar of Voter is reporting a 71% voter turnout for the November election.

As of Nov 20, 682,819 have been counted and only 5000 votes remain to be cured & counted countywide. At this point, the voter turnout numbers are pretty solid, but may increase by a fraction of a percent.

Why am I posting this? I feel the need to counter the misinformation on social media that always follows any election. The real numbers take a few weeks to come out.

Following any election, there are always alot of doom & gloom posts who are posting **premature** voting turnout numbers. Those same people fail to provide updates when the correct numbers are provided-- they've already moved on to complain about the next thing.

The numbers are not great, but also not terrible. Turnout is lower than 4 years ago, following the nationwide trends of democratic-leaning areas.

Best massage for around $125? • Best massage for around $125?

Just moved back after ten years away and now mama has a promotion and a budget for massage. Any recs for someone just generally great? I went to a masseuse I loved in my last city who specialized in both Chinese and Swedish massage so I'm chasing that high, but just someone who can dial in would be awesome. Near the Outer Mission would be even better.

Lit up running paths/areas • Lit up running paths/areas
Hayward/Castro Valley/San Leandro

Looking for nice lit up areas to run. I get out of work at 5 and want to run after. Last week I had an encounter with a crazy lady on a dark street and would like to avoid that kind of stuff. I doubt there are any indoor tracks in the area but would be cool since it’s been raining. Looking mostly in Hayward and surrounding cities but if there’s anything else I would love recommendations!

Last minute cooked Thanksgiving-day turkey • Last minute cooked Thanksgiving-day turkey

Hi all,

We just got the news that my MIL has COVID and is cancelling Thanksgiving. My wife loves Thanksgiving and is so disappointed.

We would like to make the most of the last-minute change in plans and do a proper Thanksgiving dinner. But we are from out of state and in a small place where we would prefer to not cook the turkey ourselves.

With that in mind, I’m wondering if anyone knows of a restaurant in the East Bay where we could pick up a smoked (or non-smoked if needed) Turkey ahead of the big day.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Places to Donate Cosmetic Pouches (friend's business closed and trying to donate inventory)? • Places to Donate Cosmetic Pouches (friend's business closed and trying to donate inventory)?

Hi East Bay Redditors,

Do you all know where my friend could donate leftover inventory of cosmetic pouches? They have a lot of them (like probably 20 or 30+ boxes of this) from a business they closed and want to donate the inventory. The photo below is from a google search, but same concept with 5 pouches that fit into each other and they have a bunch of colors and styles. Appreciate any ideas and help.

My wife and I are planning to move to Discovery Bay / Brentwood. Need advice on both the areas. • My wife and I are planning to move to Discovery Bay / Brentwood. Need advice on both the areas.

Hello,

I got married last year and my wife and I we both work in the Silicon Valley. Currently we are renting here at Sunnyvale but now we are making a move to purchase a new home in either Brentwood or Discovery Bay.

I am well aware about the commute and long hours traffic but that’s something I won’t worry about now since we both am young. Also, we won’t be commuting everyday to work.

But I need to know more about the pros and cons of living in Discovery Bay and Brentwood. My wife liked both but I find discovery bay isolated. No doubt, it’s a totally different universe after entering. But I would prefer Brentwood as the city seems developed with a good accessibility to shopping centers and food center.

But I need to gather more information on both the places and I would appreciate everyone’s advice.

Thank you.

Why is the east bay so segregated? • Why is the east bay so segregated?

Ok so segregated isn’t the right word maybe cliquish is.

But coming from a 23yo blk girl that moved here from Texas Houston it’s been EXTREMELY hard to find friends & ppl to do things with. I won’t say ppl here are rude but they are just very fake and not welcoming at all.

EDIT:I’m not looking for advice lmao. I just wanted to ask a question because my friend who is a POC as well has had the same experience as me & shes not from the south. So no it’s not that I’m looking for “southern hospitality” it’s just ppl here are actually weird.

But for those who’d like to actually do something and meet up. My instagram is the same as my user name * with a zero* as this is not my anony acct.
