1@infinitezero: Why not? Lightweight OS means less stuff running by default, which may mean greater security (fewer open ports/protocols). If you're not expecting folks to be attacking Windows machines, that too is an argument for, rather than against. Heck, load it up with Kali Linux and you're starting with one of the most respected security probing toolkits in existence...keshlam– keshlam2024-06-05 00:22:30 +00:00Commented Jun 5, 2024 at 0:22

1I'll phrase it differently: the organizers might require a Windows OS, so this might not be an option.infinitezero– infinitezero2024-06-05 04:57:45 +00:00Commented Jun 5, 2024 at 4:57

1Might be worth asking. As I said, Kali Linux is a standard security toolkit; at this sort of event I would expect it to be extremely common.keshlam– keshlam2024-06-05 12:31:45 +00:00Commented Jun 5, 2024 at 12:31

6@infinitezero We're talking about Black Hat. No, they don't require their attendees to bring a Windows Laptop.Sören– Sören2024-06-05 15:06:14 +00:00Commented Jun 5, 2024 at 15:06

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. software-industry), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
