I think this is the key here. The question makes it sound like "large code base" is some known quantity. But it's not - a code base without documentation, no good coding practices (not very decomposed), no tests is extremely hard to work with. While larger code bases with good organisation, documentation, and tests might take even a new developer very little time to get into. And there is the whole spectrum between. | |
