Maybe some of the original development team (support members not coding members) can be embedded in user companies to help the users in those locations. Invite knowledgeable users to come in and share their experiences and needs.

It will figure out what it's meant for (and might enable you to offer some initial kind of support) and be able to greatly assist in rewriting portions or most of it. But always BYOB: bring your own brain, of course.

If the answer is still no, get the friendy way out of there.
