Makeup Darling!!

On Monday I talked about the basis for great skin, your skincare routine. Nothing beats radiant, glowing skin! But sometimes life likes to be a jerk and your hormones get all out of whack or you just have problematic skin. Those times can be so frustrating, emotionally and physically. For those of us that don’t have the option to hibernate until we feel comfortable enough to see people, we have to depend on makeup! Continue reading “Makeup Darling!!”

Take Care of that Skin!

We are going to have a whole week dedicated to skin! I’ll start the week off with the foundation for great skin, a skincare routine. Then we will have a blog dedicated to enhancing your gorgeous skin with some outstanding makeup options that not only bring out the best in your skin but heals it. And the week will come to an end with my Fab ‘n Fit picks!! If you missed last week’s Fab ‘n Fit be sure to check it out. I gave six skincare tips that were all under $10 and they might just be the key to unlocking your inner mermaid!

First off, let’s talk skin basics. Every person’s skin is unique, what works for your best friend probably won’t be the best fit for you. So whenever you read about skin routines and products Continue reading “Take Care of that Skin!”

Fab ‘n Fit with a Twist!

Tips under 10 with text copyThis week’s Fab ‘n Fit will be a little different. I wanted to share with y’all a few skincare tips that all cost $10 or less! If you struggle with adult acne, or acne these are a few daily tricks to help your fight against breakouts.

Do you use lemons on a daily basis? Lemons are seriously the superheroes of fruit. They have so many amazing properties to help treat and heal your skin from the outside and the inside. Something to think about adding to your morning routine is drinking hot lemon water. This super kick starter will get your day going right by aiding in digestion, giving you an extra boost of Vitamin C, and fighting free radicals. You can also rub lemon on your face to fight those pesky blackheads. For even more reasons why lemons are the superfruit of fruits, my dear friend over at Chemistry Cachet wrote an amazing piece on scientific proof why you should eat and use lemons. Sugar Baby!!

Let’s talk about sugar baby… Oh so yummy sugar that just makes you crave it by saying the word! We all love sugar, even those that say they’re not addicted to sugar we all know they lie! I know gasp… but what they don’t know is they’re getting sugar from starches and almost every single processed food that’s out there. If I hadn’t started Whole 30, I don’t think I would have ever paid attention to the ingredients in the food I was consuming on a daily basis. Once my eyes were open there was no going back, and after I got past the initial shock of sugar being in EVERYTHING!!! I got angry. Why does sugar have to be in salad dressings, sausage, almost every BBQ sauce, canned goods, oh and my personal favorite sugar in my garlic powder. So what’s the deal with sugar? Why has it become such a common ingredient, and why should we as consumers care? Continue reading “Sugar Baby!!”

I Solemnly Swear I’m up to no Good…

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy when it comes to our health and well-being. Not too long ago I discovered that I had a vice for when I was stressed or bored, face picking. Why couldn’t vacuuming be my vice, life would be peachy then! I sit there and stare at my bare skin in the mirror for what feels like hours just looking for something. Why I do this I still don’t know to this day. But it is something I defiantly need to work on, I already have enough skin issues without me turning a black head into a crater. Last night I did some damage, and maybe it’s the clearer mind but I realized I can’t keep doing this to my face. I need to find another outlet for stress. So I fired up Google and went to my trusty skin sites, and found out that skin picking is kind of a thing. Enough so that Renee Rouleau not only blogs about it, but there is a tool I can order to potentially distract from skin picking! Continue reading “I Solemnly Swear I’m up to no Good…”

Fab ‘n Fit Fridays

Here’s a little something I’d like to try on Fridays. I will end the week with a short list of things that I love and sometimes just can’t do without. It gives y’all a little insight into what I like to use on a regular basis and maybe even help you discover new products!!! If you’re anything like me you have to curb your internet shopping 🙂

First up is my bamboo speaker! I love this little guy. I made this discovery when I popped into a new store off the square (just to paint a little picture our downtown is basically Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls) the store owner was demonstrating the speaker and I honestly thought it was a wireless, Bluetooth speaker, but nope!! Coffee… A love story!

IMG_0199

Do y’all have a crutch something you just have to have on a daily basis? Mine has become coffee! Coffee was something that was enjoyed every once in a blue moon, like a trip to Barnes and Noble. Holding that cup of warm coffee as I prowled the aisles of delicious books. Good memories! Then as my hormones began to slip further and further it was something I depended on to wake me from my zombie state every morning. I was able to limit myself to coffee only in the morning. I refused to let it continue throughout the day no matter how heavy my eyelids were. I did have a brief affair with tea, it’s nice to have a rendezvous every now and then. But nothing can take the place of coffee! Thankfully this sinful goodness is allowed during the “Great Gut Cleanse of 2016.” And thankfully I take my coffee black because as you guessed it, there are no additives allowed.

There’s also a beauty in grinding the beans first thing in the morning. Continue reading “Coffee… A love story!”

Et tu Cortisol?

Well ladies and gents week 1 of Whole 30 is about to be official. Not gonna lie and tell y’all it was a breeze, about day 4 I thought I might need to lock myself in the bedroom because everyone was making me crazy. Let’s not even talk about the fact I felt like I had been back in college and was throwing back red bull and vodka all night (yes, I know seriously the worst choice of drink everrrrrr but hey we were all young and dumb). But after day 4 things went back to normal and I could tell things were changing.

My one issue with Whole 30 is that it does take a lot of time and preparation, and sometimes lets face it you don’t have that much time or patience. Continue reading “Et tu Cortisol?”

Whole 30

Today is day 1 of Whole 30 and I feel like a champ! My fridge and pantry have never looked so good 🙂 But I know what’s coming and I’m prepared for it, plus I have a pretty awesome support system in place (a very understanding husband who says he’s going to do this with me, and three fur babies) so bring it on. Last weekend was full of “hey let’s eat this , and drink this because it’s not going to happen for awhile,” and last night was a delicious meal of oh so not good for you food.

Central Market was not prepared for my stealthiness and my nifty Whole 30 shopping list, Juli with paleOMG was also by my side (figuratively not literally) so nothing was going to get in my way! Not even the lady who tried to still my scale as I turned around to grab my next bag of produce to weigh. My only worry is that the meals will get repetitive and breakfast could get pretty boring. See on my adventure with adult acne I have found a few things that make it worse than others, and eggs happens to be one of them 😦 If anyone has great recipes for egg-less Whole 30 breakfasts I am all ears! Continue reading “Whole 30”

Not Tonight

For about two years now my body decided it wanted to attack me from the inside out. It wanted to do it secretly and silently with only subtle things popping up here and there. Eventually the little things started to rule over the big things and they took over my life. Thoughts in my head were racing…

“I’m going crazy,” “Oh you’re just getting older,” “Everyone goes through sex slumps,” “Adult acne is normal… right,” “It’s just one anxiety attack no big deal,” “Something is wrong but no one will believe me.”

I was fighting a battle that only my husband was privy too for a little over a year. Continue reading “Not Tonight”
