Vintage Chinese Chippendale Camelback Sofa in Mahogany & Damask

About the Item

Vintage Chinese Chippendale Camelback Damask Upholstered Sofa – 75066 This exceptional vintage camelback sofa dates to approximately 50 years old and is crafted from solid mahogany in the highly decorative Chinese Chippendale style. Featuring a graceful camelback silhouette, rolled arms, fine carved details, and distinctive Chinese Chippendale lattice trim, this impressive sofa showcases the elegance and craftsmanship associated with fine traditional furniture. The beautifully proportioned frame rests on an eight-leg full stretcher base, providing both substantial construction and an especially handsome architectural presence. The combination of the carved mahogany frame, lattice detailing, rolled arms, and serpentine camelback profile creates a sophisticated interpretation of 18th-century Chinese Chippendale design. The sofa was professionally reupholstered and restored approximately three years ago and is upholstered in an elegant damask fabric. The professional restoration allows the exceptional mahogany frame and decorative details to be appreciated while providing a comfortable and refined seating piece for a formal living room, library, sitting room, or other traditional interior. Unmarked as to manufacture and possibly by Kittinger, Saybolt Cleland, or a similar high-quality American manufacturer. Regardless of attribution, the quality of the construction, carved details, solid mahogany frame, and overall scale are indicative of fine furniture manufacture. Offered at a fraction of its original retail cost.
