Origin and history of asthmatic

asthmatic(adj.)

"pertaining to or afflicted with asthma," 1540s, from Latin asthmaticus, from Greek asthmatikos, from asthma "shortness of breath" (see asthma). The noun meaning "person with asthma" is recorded from 1610s.
