GRSL Impact Factor

GRSL has an Impact Factor of 4.4, an Eigenfactor Score of 0.03195, an Article Influence Score of 1.02, a CiteScore of 9, and an average turnaround time close to 30 days. Moreover, as soon as papers are accepted and materials are available at IEEE, they will appear online through the IEEE digital library Xplore.

Scope

Papers should relate to the theory, concepts and techniques of science and engineering as applied to remotely sensing the earth, oceans, atmosphere and space, and the processing, interpretation, and dissemination of this information. Please see a detailed description of GRSL’s scope here.

Fees

The maximal number of pages of a GRSL article is 5. There is no mandatory page charge for the first three pages. The mandatory page charge for pages 4 and 5 is $230/page for non-GRSS members. For papers submitted on or after June 1, 2025, they are free of charge (i.e. $0) if at least the corresponding author (as provided during the submission process) is a GRSS member. For papers submitted before June 1, 2025, the page charge for pages 4 and 5 is $200/page for GRSS members.

There is the option for voluntary page charges of $110/page for the first 3 pages. Papers longer than 5 printed pages will not be published in GRSL but can be turned over to TGRS, JSTARS, or other GRSS journals. Corresponding authors from low-income countries might be eligible for waived or reduced publication fees (please reach out to the Editor in Chief at the point of submission to discuss options). This publication is a hybrid journal, allowing either traditional manuscript submission or Open Access (author-pays OA) manuscript submission. Upon acceptance, if you choose to have your manuscript be an Open Access article, you commit to pay an OA fee of US$2645 to enable unrestricted public access. Any other application charges (such as overlength page charges) will be billed separately once the manuscript formatting is complete but prior to the publication. If you would like your manuscript to be a traditional submission, your article will be available to qualified subscribers and purchasers via IEEE Xplore. No OA payment is required for traditional submissions.

Submission Information

Prospective authors should submit their manuscripts electronically to the IEEE Author Portal.

Instructions for creating new user accounts, if necessary, are available on the login screen. Please indicate that your submission is intended for GRSL by choosing “Letters” in pull down menu for manuscript type. Before making a submission to a Special Stream, please carefully review its description to ensure a good fit to its scope. GRSL is part of the IEEE Transparent Peer Review program. If authors and reviewers opt-in for TPR during the review process, upon publication of an accepted article, reviews & editorial decision letters are posted on Clarivate Web Of Science and the article on IEEE Xplore will carry TPR badge and link to WoS article/review record.
